An Investigation of the Verbal Description of Trombone Tone Quality With Respect to Selected Attributes of Sound

Description: The purpose of this study was to determine the physical elements which experienced trombonists associate with selected descriptors in characterizing the tone quality of that instrument. Stimuli sampled from live trombone tones and synthesized into musical phrases represented 17 variations in (1) presence/absence of attack transient, (2) rise time, (3) duration, (4) number of harmonics, (5) upper limit of harmonicity (6) spectral envelope shape, and (7) frequency.

The Historical Development of the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine as a State Medical School, 1960-1975

Description: This study is a historical analysis of the significant events from 1960 leading to the establishment of Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine (TCOM) in 1975 and a depiction of the actions of key individuals contributing to the development of the College. Included is a description of the environment and the controversy between the allopaths and osteopaths that resulted in a request in 1961 by the American Osteopathic Association to establish more osteopathic medical schools.

Factors Affecting Post-Divorce Child Adjustment and the Impact of Family Financial Status

Description: Data from the National Survey of Households and Families were used to study the factors previous research identified as affecting post-divorce child adjustment. Responses from 358 divorced parents with custody of children under age 12 were analyzed. Special attention was paid to the effect of family financial status. The Metal-Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition of Cu(II)-bishexafluoroacetylacetonate on a Tungsten Substrate

Description: Evidence is reported for the formation of carbon-containing contamination products at the copper-tungsten (Cu-W) interface during the metal organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) of copper on tungsten. Cu(II)bishexafluoroacetylacetonate [Cu(hfac)_2] was physisorbed onto lightly oxidized tungsten (WO_x) at 115K, under ultra-high vacuum conditions, and then annealed sequentially to higher temperatures. "Eyre," a Three Movement Instrumental Work for Small Chamber Ensemble

Description: "Eyre" is a composition of approximately sixteen minutes duration for an instrumental ensemble consisting of two flutes, oboe, B𝄭 clarinet, bassoon, guitar, and cello.
