Position paper on active countermeasures for computer networks.

Description: Computer security professionals have used passive network countermeasures for several years in order to secure computer networks. Passive countermeasures such as firewalls and intrusion detection systems are effective but their use alone is not enough to protect a network. Active countermeasures offer new ways of protecting a computer network. Corporations and government entities should adopt active network countermeasures as a means of protecting their computer networks.

Arrayed resonant subwavelength gratings : LDRD 38618 final report.

Description: This report describes a passive, optical component called resonant subwavelength gratings (RSGs), which can be employed as one element in an RSG array. An RSG functions as an extremely narrow wavelength and angular band reflector, or mode selector. Description: A tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy probe was used to measure in situ soot properties and species concentrations in two-meter diameter JP-8 pool fires.
