Working model for Ge(Li) detector counting efficiencies

Description: A practical model has been developed that is capable of describing the overall Ge(Li) detection efficiency as a function of several known or measurable parameters such as gamma-ray energy, source-to-detector distance, detector dimensions, source extension (area and volume), source composition, and external absorbers. The algorithms of this model permit the evaluation of a large variety of sample shapes, sizes, material compositions, and source strengths with a single initial detector calibratio… more

GRPANL: a program for deconvoluting and interpreting complex peak clusters

Description: GRPANL (GRouP ANaLysis) is a general-purpose peak fitting program that first determines gamma-ray and x-ray energies and intensities for specified peaks or clusters of peaks in a spectrum and then proceeds to interpret these results, determining both the radioisotopes detected and the amounts of each in the sample. Versions of the program are now running on the Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) VAX and PDP-11 computers. The code has several unique capabilities for deconvoluting and interpreti… more

TASTEX gamma spectrometer system for measuring isotopic and total plutonium concentrations in solutions

Description: Described is a computer-based gamma ray spectrometer system using a germanium detector for rapid nondestructive measurement of isotopic and total plutonium concentrations in solutions at nuclear reprocessing plants. Isotopic concentrations have been measured with an accuracy of +-0.5%. Cell design, calibration techniques, and preliminary results are discussed. This system is being installed at the Tokai reprocessing plant in Japan.

Megachannel. gamma. --. gamma. coincidence system using a PDP-8/E computer and moving-head disks

Description: A megachannel pulse-height analysis system using a PDP-8/E computer and two moving-head disk memories has been developed. The system has a storage capacity of 220 memory locations, is capable of processing 1100 events/s, and provides on-line sorting and disk storage. An X- or Y-pulse-height spectrum in coincidence with one or several arbitrary pulse-height windows can be assembled in core for scope display and spectral analysis within 2 to 20 seconds. Reconstruction of a complete X- or Y-pulse-… more
