Recent results from the FNAL 15 foot bubble chamber

Recent results on charm production by neutrinos and antineutrinos and on the measurement of the elastic scattering of muon neutrinos on electrons are discussed. Included are charm production in the GIM model, dilepton production, observation of D/sup 0/K/sup 0/..pi../sup +/..pi../sup -/, search for charmed baryons and V/sub ..mu../ e/sup -/ elastic scattering. Recent results from BNL neutrino experiments and plans for the future

Recent results on neutrino scattering from experiments in the wide band neutrino beam at Brookhaven are discussed. There are recent 7' BC measurements on quasi-elastic scattering and charged current total cross sections (..nu..-D/sub 2/) and charged current neutron to proton cross section ratios (..nu..-D/sub 2/, ..nu..-N/sub e//H/sub 2/). Neutrino physics at Brookhaven National Laboratory

The history of neutrino physics at BNL is briefly reviewed and the opportunities for new experiments in the context of the AGS Booster are discussed. Monte Carlo study of inclusive W/sup +/ production at CBA

The UA1 and UA2 experiments at the CERN SPS anti pp collider observed several events which they have interpreted to be the leptonic decay of the charged intermediate vector boson, W/sup +-/ + e/sup +-/nu. All of these events have an electron with large transverse momentum and large mission transverse energy. Gluino Searches at the SSC

We have studied the feasibility of observing the production of gluino pairs at the SSC using the proposed EMPACT detector as a model for experimental resolution. We have considered missing E{sub T} and like-sign dimuon signatures of SUSY. The signal-to-noise ratio for the missing E{sub T} signal is between 2.5:1 and 5:1 depending on the mass of the gluino. The like-sign dimuon signature displays the Majorana property of gluinos. 10 refs., 3 figs., 2 tabs.

Quasi-elastic neutrino scattering and the axial vector form factor

An analysis of 168 quasi-elastic neutrino interactions nu n yields ..mu../sup -/p in deuterium yields a value of M/sub A/ = .76 /sup +/./sup 14/./sub 40/ GeV for the axial vector mass.

Observation of the kaonic decay of the. lambda. /sub c//sup +/ charmed baryon. [Rates]

There were 34 events observed with visible strange particle production out of a total charged current sample of 4,500 events in a wide-band neutrino exposure of the BNL 7-foot bubble chamber filled with H/sub 2/ or D/sub 2/. Three events were uniquely identified as having single strange particle production, two with ..delta..S = -..delta..Q. In both ..delta..S = -..delta..Q events we observe the ..lambda../sub c//sup +/(2260), which in one case decays to ..lambda pi../sup +/..pi../sup +/..pi../… more

Recent results from the Brookhaven National Laboratory 7' bubble chamber

In this presentation the equipment is briefly described and the method of analysis used for all events is reviewed. New results are then presented on the ratio of neutrino cross sections on neutrons to that on protons. One is reminded of the published event indicating an apparent $delta$S = -$delta$Q current. Finally, the parameters of all the other charged current events containing at least one strange particle are presented. (auth)

Strange particle production in neutrino-neon charged current interactions

Neutral strange particle production in charged-current muon-neutrino interactions have been studied in the Fermilab 15-foot neon bubble chamber. Limits on likesign dilepton production in nu/sub. mu. / interactions

We have searched for the production of likesign dilepton events (nu/sub ..mu../ + Ne ..-->.. ..mu../sup -/ + e/sup -/ + ...) in a wideband neutrino beam at FNAL using the 15' bubble chamber. We observe no signal above the background arising from conventional sources. Neutrino-Oscillation Experiments at Brookhaven National Laboratory

Two groups have submitted major proposals for neutrino oscillation searches at BNL. Both are two detector experiments with a close detector at approx. = 100m and a far detector at approx. = 900m. We have examined some experimental questions relating to the production of W's and Z/sup 0/'s at a pp collider. Brief Report on a New Limit on the Strength of Mixing Between nu/sub. mu. /. -->. nu/sub e/

Measurements have been made of the reactions nu/sub e/n ..-->.. e/sup -/p and nu/sub ..mu../n ..-->.. ..mu../sup -/p in a detector located 96 meters from the A.G.S. neutrino source. A direct measurement is made of the energy dependent flux ratio for the two neutrino species. Neutrino--deuterium reactions in the 7-foot bubble chamber. [Strangeness, CVC theory, V-A theory]

Charm and particle production in neutrino interactions. [Production rates]

Ten strange particles were observed in a total of 1086 charged current neutrino interactions obtained in the analysis of 482,000 pictures taken in the Brookhaven Cryogenic 7' Bubble Chamber filled with hydrogen and deuterium. Monopole search using an accelerator detector

A neutrino detector at the Brookhaven AGS has been used to investigate the feasibility of using an already constructed apparatus for GUT monopole searches. A flux limit (90%CL) of 5.2 x 10/sup -12/ cm/sup -2/ sec/sup -1/ str/sup -1/ was found. The limitations of such an approach are discussed.

A Search for Heavy Neutrino Decays in a Neutrino Beam

Decay of heavy neutrinos ..nu../sub H/ ..-->.. ..nu..l..mu..e(l = e, ..mu..) has been searched for in the Brookhaven Alternting Gradient Synchrotron wide-band neutrino beam. Since no significant excess of such events was found, upper limits on the neutrino mixing matrix elements, absolute value of U/sub eH//sup 2/ and absolute value of U/sub ..mu..H//sup 2/ were obtained for the mass range of 180 to 500 MeV.
