Ultra-relativistic heavy ions and the CBA

Description: The study of ultra-relativistic heavy ions at an accelerator such as the CBA provides a unique glimpse of matter as it may have appeared in the early universe. This hot dense matter very probably appears as a quark-gluon plasma which expands and cools into hadronic matter. The CBA would provide data at the very highest energies, and produce matter at the highest energy densities. What is Centauro. [High-Z nuclear matter blob in primary cosmic radiation]

Description: Another interpretation of the Centauro event is given in which the primary object initiating the collision is a glob of nuclear matter of very high density. The kinetics of this glob are described, and the experimental implications set forth. Among the latter are the horizontal air shower rate and the mean quark density on earth, both within experimental limits according to the glob interpretation. 7 references. (JFP)

Gluon Evolution and Saturation Proceedings

Description: Almost 40 years ago, Gribov and colleagues at the Leningrad Nuclear Physics Institute developed the ideas that led to the Dokhsitzer-Gribov-Altarelli-Parisi the Baltisky-Fadin-Kuraev-Lipatov equations.
