Depletion Analysis and Sensitivity Study of PHENIX Fuel-Irradiation Experiments

Description: The experimental results are in the form of various U and Pu atom density ratios (R/sub E/) and burnup (BU) values. The results were for samples irradiated during the first three cycles in the central zone of PHENIX. The time-dependent sensitivity study was performed with the depletion generalized perturbation code DEPTH-CHARGE, to investigate the sensitivity of R/sub E/ to cross sections and to absolute flux level changes. The depletion analysis was performed using ENDS/B-IV data, an (R-Z) mod… more

Taylor-series expansion with generalized perturbation theory for peak power investigations. [LMFBR]

Description: Generalized perturbation theory (GPT) is often used to calculate the influence on integral reactor performance parameters of design and cross section changes, and to determine integral parameter uncertainties. A Taylor series expansion method with GPT has recently been proposed to treat such shifts explicitly. Cacuci has also developed a theory involving Gateaux-differentials to investigate response maxima. The purpose of the work reported in this summary is to investigate the appropriateness o… more

Flux Synthesis for the On-line Surveillance of Nuclear Power Plants

Description: On-line monitoring of reactivity and power distribution in reactors requires on-line determination of flux, isotopic compositions, and reactivity changes as functions of burnup and operating conditions. Thus, the development of such a monitoring procedure depends on the availability of a calculational method that can efficiently incorporate reactor operating data and results from detailed off-line computations. This abstract briefly describes the development of a calculational method suitable f… more
