Multi-purpose neutron radiography system

Description: A conceptual design is given for a low cost, multipurpose radiography system suited for the needs of the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). The proposed neutron source is californium-252. One purpose is to provide an in-house capability for occasional, reactor quality, neutron radiography thus replacing the recently closed Omega-West Reactor. A second purpose is to provide a highly reliable standby transportable neutron radiography system. A third purpose is to provide for transportable neu… more

Chemical and radiation stability of a proprietary cesium ion exchange material manufactured from WWL membrane and SuperLig{reg_sign} 644

Description: Pretreatment of nuclear process wastes for ion exchange removal of Cs and other radionuclides is one way to minimize amount of high-level radioactive waste at Hanford. This study evaluated Cs-selective SuperLig{reg_sign}644 (IBC Advanced Technologies, American Fork UT) entrapped in a proprietary WWL web membrane (3M) for chemical/radiation stability in simulated caustic neutralized current acid waste (NCAW), 0.5M HNO{sub 3}, water, and air. After exposure up to 2.0E+09 rad, the material was eva… more

Spectral Effects on Fast Wave Core Heating and Current Drive

Description: Recent results obtained with high harmonic fast wave (HHFW) heating and current drive (CD) on NSTX strongly support the hypothesis that the onset of perpendicular fast wave propagation right at or very near the launcher is a primary cause for a reduction in core heating efficiency at long wavelengths that is also observed in ICRF heating experiments in numerous tokamaks. A dramatic increase in core heating efficiency was first achieved in NSTX L-mode helium majority plasmas when the onset for p… more

C-106 High-Level Waste Solids: Washing/Leaching and Solubility Versus Temperature Studies

Description: This report describes the results of a test conducted by Battelle to assess the effects of inhibited water washing and caustic leaching on the composition of the Hanford tank C-106 high-level waste (HLW) solids. The objective of this work was to determine the composition of the C-106 solids remaining after washing with 0.01M NaOH or leaching with 3M NaOH. Another objective of this test was to determine the solubility of various C-106 components as a function of temperature. The work was conduct… more

[Honoring Our Heritage and other Denton Chamber of Commerce Productions]

Description: This video contains four segments that concern the Denton Chamber of Commerce. The first segment, "Honoring Our Heritage," covers the history of the Chamber of Commerce. The story is presented by an actor portraying A.C. Owsley (President, 1909-1913). The production includes interviews with past Chamber of Commerce Presidents (in order of appearance) Tom Harpool, Jr. (1953), R.L. Selby, Jr. (1958), Marvin Ramey (1957), Bill Utter (1959), John Moellinger (1974), Roy Appleton, Jr. (1961), Fred W.… more
