Plutonium metal scrap, oxide, and other residues are processed at Rocky Flats using both pyrochemical and aqueous methods. The pyrochemical processes currently in production include electrorefining, fluorination, hydriding, molten salt extraction (MSE), calcination, and reduction operations.
