Electroweak physics at the Tevatron

Description: The CDF and D0 experiments at the Tevatron have used p{bar p} collisions at {radical}s = 1.96 TeV to perform electroweak physics measurements. A program of precision electroweak tests of SM already started. Measurements performed are: W and Z bosons production cross section using different leptonic final states, dielectron Forward-Backward Asymmetry A{sub FB} and di-boson cross section production. We also report the prospects for the W mass measurements.

GLAST LAT And Pulsars: What Do We Learn from Simulations?

Description: Gamma-ray pulsars are among the best targets for the Large Area Telescope (LAT) aboard the GLAST mission. The higher sensitivity, time and energy resolution of the LAT will provide data of fundamental importance to understand the physics of these fascinating objects. Powerful tools for studying the LAT capabilities for pulsar science are the simulation programs developed within the GLAST Collaboration. Thanks to these simulations it is possible to produce a detailed distribution of gamma-ray ph… more

BaBar Tests of Lorentz and CPT Symmetry

Description: Tests of CPT and T symmetries and a limit on the difference between the decay rates of the two mass eigenstates in B{sup 0}-mesons oscillations are reported. The reconstructed B decays, comprising both CP and flavor eigenstates, are obtained from {Upsilon}(4S) {yields} B{bar B} decays collected by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B Factory at SLAC. Sensitivity projections for sidereal time modulation of the CPT-violating parameter based on an explicit and general CPT-breaking … more

Fabrication of the GLAST Silicon Tracker Readout Electronics

Description: A unique electronics system has been built and tested for reading signals from the silicon-strip detectors of the Gamma-ray Large Area Space Telescope mission. The system amplifies and processes signals from 884,736 36-cm long silicon strips in a 4 x 4 array of tower modules. An aggressive mechanical design fits the readout electronics in narrow spaces between the tower modules, to minimize dead area. This design and the resulting departures from conventional electronics packaging led to severa… more

New Low Emittance Lattice for the Super-B Accelerator

Description: New low emittance lattices have been designed for the asymmetric SuperB accelerator, aiming at a luminosity of 10{sup 36} cm{sup -2} s{sup -1}. Main optics features are two alternating arc cells with different horizontal phase advance, decreasing beam emittance and allowing at the same time for easy chromaticity correction in the arcs. Emittance can be further reduced by a factor of two for luminosity upgrade. Spin rotation schemes for the e{sup -} beam have been studied to provide longitudinal… more

The Silicon Tracker Readout Electronics of the Gamma-ray Large Area Space Telescope

Description: A unique electronics system has been built and tested for reading signals from the silicon-strip detectors of the Gamma-ray Large Area Space Telescope mission. The system amplifies and processes signals from 884,736 36-cm strips using only 160 W of power, and it achieves close to 100% detection efficiency with noise occupancy sufficiently low to allow it to self trigger. The design of the readout system is described, and results are presented from ground-based testing of the completed detector … more

Improved Limits on the Lepton Flavor Violating Decays Tau -> l V^0

Description: The authors search for the neutrinoless, lepton-flavor-violating tau decays {tau}{sup -} {yields} {ell}{sup -}V{sup 0}, where {ell} is an electron or muon and V{sup 0} is a fector meson reconstructed as {phi} {yields} K{sup +}K{sup -}, {rho} {yields} {pi}{sup +}{pi}{sup -}, K* {yields} K{sup +}{pi}{sup -}, {bar K}* {yields} K{sup -}{pi}{sup +}. The analysis has been performed using 451 fb{sup -1} of data collected at an e{sup +}e{sup -} center-of-mass energy near 10.58 GeV with the BABAR detect… more
