Multipurpose Radiation Resistant Semiconductor Detectors for Alpha, Neutron & Low Energy Gamma Ray Measurements at High Temperatures in High-Intensity Gamma Ray

Description: Work scheduled under year two of DOE Grant DE-FG02-04ER63734 is on schedule and all year-two milestones have or will be met. Results to date demonstrate that unprecedented silicon carbide (SiC) energy resolution has been obtained, and that SiC detectors may achieve energy resolution that exceeds that obtainable with the best silicon alpha spectrometers. Rotating Aperture Deuterium Gas Cell Development for High Brightness Neutron Production

Description: Work is underway at LLNL to design and build a high-brightness mono-energetic source for fast neutron imaging. Description: In this short report, I reassess the feasibility of measuring iron in vivo in the liver and heart of thalassemia patients undergoing chelation therapy. Methods and Instruments for Fast Neutron Detection

Description: Pacific Northwest National Laboratory evaluated the performance of a large-area (~0.7 m2) plastic scintillator time-of-flight (TOF) sensor for direct detection of fast neutrons. An 8-Element Fast-Neutron Double-Scatter Directional Detector.

Description: We have constructed a fast-neutron double-scatter spectrometer that efficiently measures the neutron spectrum and direction of a spontaneous fission source. The device consists of two planes of organic scintillators, each having an area of 125 cm{sup 2}, efficiently coupled to photomultipliers. Design and Testing of a High Pressure Gas Target for Fast Neutron Resonance Radiography

Description: A high pressure deuterium gas target has been designed to provide high-flux fast neutrons using the D(d,n){sup 3}He reaction for use as a neutron source.
