MEASUREMENTS OF THE H(N,N) ANGULAR DISTRIBUTION OF 10MEV NEUTRON ENERGY.

Description: Relative measurements of the cross section for scattering of neutrons by protons have been made at 10 MeV neutron energy for center-of-mass neutron scattering angles from 60' to 180'. The measurements were made using the Ohio University Accelerator Laboratory's tandem Van de Graaff accelerator with the D(d,n) reaction as the neutron source. The data are in good agreement with predictions from the phase shift analyses of Arndt, the groups of Nijmegen and Bonn, and the ENDF/B-V evaluation. The EN… more

Infrared Frequency Selective Surfaces Fabricated using Optical Lithography and Phase-Shift Masks

Description: A frequency selective surface (FSS) structure has been fabricated for use in a thermophotovoltaic system. The FSS provides a means for reflecting the unusable light below the bandgap of the thermophotovoltaic cell while transmitting the usable light above the bandgap. This behavior is relatively independent of the light's incident angle. The fabrication of the FSS was done using optical lithography and a phase-shift mask. The FSS cell consisted of circular slits spaced by 1100 nm. The diameters… more

Electromagnetic fields in cased borehole

Description: Borehole electromagnetic (EM) measurements, using fiberglass-cased boreholes, have proven useful in oil field reservoir characterization and process monitoring (Wilt et al., 1995). It has been presumed that these measurements would be impossible in steel-cased wells due to the very large EM attenuation and phase shifts. Recent laboratory and field studies have indicated that detection of EM signals through steel casing should be possible at low frequencies, and that these data provide a reasona… more

Mesonic cloud contribution to the nucleon and delta masses

Description: Pion-nucleon elastic scattering in the dominant P{sub 33} channel is examined in the model in which the interaction is of the form {pi} + N {leftrightarrow} N, {Delta}(1232). A Low equation formalism is employed which uses covariant phase space and normalizations, a finite nucleon mass, and generates the invariant scattering amplitude which is free of kinematic singularities. New expressions are found for the elastic pion-nucleon scattering amplitude which differ from existing formula both in t… more

Initial Operation of the NSTX Phased Array for Launching High Harmonic Fast Waves

Description: A high harmonic fast wave (HHFW) antenna array, designed to provide up to 6 MW of power at 30 MHz for heating and current drive applications, has been operated on the NSTX experiment at Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL). The full array consists of twelve evenly spaced, identical current strap modules connected in pairs. Each pair is connected as a half-wave resonant loop and is intended to be driven by one transmitter, allowing rapid phase shift between transmitters. A decoupling netwo… more
