Evaluation of a Cray performance tool using a large hydrodynamics code

Description: This paper will discuss one of these automatic tools that has been developed recently by Cray Research, Inc. for use on its parallel supercomputer. Investigation of Celotex trademark charring depths in the DT-18 shipping container

Description: Celotex {trademark}, the insulating material used between the outer and inner containers of the DT-18 shipping package, undergoes decomposition, combustion, or both when heated to temperatures exceeding 150{degrees}C. Several DT-18 packages that had previously undergone hypothetical thermal accident testing were opened and Celotex {trademark} charring depths ranging from {1/2} to 1 {1/2} in. were recorded. Frequency-domain stress prediction algorithm for the LIFE2 fatigue analysis code

Description: The LIFE2 computer code is a fatigue/fracture analysis code that is specialized to the analysis of wind turbine components. Validated heat-transfer and pressure-drop prediction methods based on the discrete element method: Phase 1, Three-dimensiional roughness

Description: A computer program based on the discrete element method has been developed and validated to compute friction factors and Nusselt numbers for fully developed turbulent flow and heat transfer in pipes with three-dimensional roughness elements. Computational results are compared with appropriate cases from heat transfer experiments in the literature. The predictions were in general in very good agreement with the experimental data.

Improved numerical grid generation techniques for the B2 edge plasma code

Description: Techniques used to generate grids for edge fluid codes such as B2 from numerically computed equilibria are discussed. Fully orthogonal, numerically derived grids closely resembling analytically prescribed meshes can be obtained.
