Mineral Deposits of Central America

Description: From introduction: This report is based on investigations carried on by the Geological Survey (U. S. Department of the Interior) under the auspices of the Interdepartmental Committee on Scientific and Cultural Cooperation (U. S. Department of State) and the Foreign Economic Administration. The function of the last two agencies is presently carried on by the International Cooperation Administration. Roberts is responsible for the text of this report and for the compilation of the geologic map. He was in Central America from January to April 1942 under a program of scientific and technical cooperation with the American Republics sponsored by the Department of State, and mapped manganese deposits in Costa Rica and manganese and antimony deposits in Honduras.

Notes on the Relationship of Uranium Mineralization and Rhyolite in the Marysvale Area, Utah

Description: From abstract: A study, consisting of field and laboratory work, was undertaken in an endeavor to establish possible structural mineralization controls associated with the copper-uranium occurrences in the Willaha area, Coconino County, Arizona. Uranium mineralization, apparent at present, is localized along small fissures and vugs and in certain beds and lenses of the middle member of the Kaibab formation(Permian). It is associated with copper and iron oxide staining. Though no definite ore controls were disclosed by this study, at least a limited program of shallow drilling is warranted on the property. This sub-surface exploration should determine possible extensions of known mineralized areas, explore surface radiometric anomalies, and provide data for the determination of possible guides to ore. Deeper exploration may encounter mineralization in other horizons of the Kaibab limestone.

Description: From introduction: This report summarizes some of the results of U. S. Geological Survey investigations in the Club Mesa area and presents a compilation of available geologic data that would be helpful in future exploration. Detailed geologic logs of U. S. Geological Survey holes drilled in the Club Mesa area on public land that is no longer withdrawn from mineral entry are on open file for public inspection in the U. S. Geological Survey office, Grand Junction, Colorado.

Reconnaissance for Radioactive Minerals in Washington, Idaho, and Western Montana, 1952-1955

Description: From abstract: Approximately fifty radioactive deposits and nearly fifty properties not abnormally radioactive were examined during a geologic reconnaissance for radioactive minerals in Idaho, Washington, and western Montana during the period July 1952 -- June 1955. The most important uranium deposits are in or near granitic to quartz monzonitic intrusions of probable Cretaceous age in central and northern Idaho, westernmost Montana, and northeastern Washington.
