Calculating the Muon Cooling within a MICE Solid and Liquid Absorber

Description: The key elements of the Muon Ionization Cooling Experiment (MICE) cooling channel are the absorbers that are a part of the MICE absorber focus coil modules (AFC modules). The boundaries of room temperature solid absorbers are well defined. The density of most solid absorber materials is also well understood. Ion Motion inthe Adiabatic Focuser

Description: In this paper we numerically study the effect of ion motion in an adiabatic focuser, motivated by a recent suggestion that ion motion in an adiabatic focuser might be significant and even preclude operation of the focuser as previously envisioned. It is shown that despite ion motion the adiabatic focuser should work as well as originally envisioned.

Progress on the MICE Tracker Solenoid

Description: This report describes the 400 mm warm bore tracker solenoid for the Muon Ionization Cooling Experiment (MICE). The 2.923 m long tracker solenoid module includes the radiation shutter between the end absorber focus coil modules and the tracker as well as the 2.735 m long magnet cryostat vacuum vessel.
