Vibration study of the APS storage ring 0. 8 meter quadrupole magnet/magnet support assembly

Description: The objectives of this study are as follows: Determine the vibration characteristics (frequency, damping, and mode shapes) of the magnet on prototypic supports (the actual mounting system used to mount the magnet on the girder). Magnet innovations for linacs

Description: It is possible to produce large magnetic fields at the aperture of permanent magnet quadrupoles, even when the magnetic aperture is very small. That, combined with their compactness, makes permanent magnet quadrupoles very powerful components of small aperture linacs. Results will be presented about past and present work on both fixed and variable strength permanent magnets suitable for use in and around linacs.

Measurements of magnetization multipoles in four centimeter quadrupoles for the SSC

Description: Higher multipoles due to magnetization of the superconductor in superconducting dipole and quadrupole magnets has been observed in over twenty years. This report presents measurements of the 12 pole and 20 pole multipoles in a model one-meter long four-centimeter bore SSC type quadrupole built at the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory (LBL). Vibration Measurements to Study the Effect of Cryogen Flow in Superconducting Quadrupole.

Electrons in a positive-ion beam with solenoid or quadrupole magnetic transport

Description: The High Current Experiment (HCX) is used to study beam transport and accumulation of electrons in quadrupole magnets and the Neutralized Drift-Compression Experiment (NDCX) to study beam transport through and accumulation of electrons in magnetic solenoids. Nb3Sn Quadrupoles in the LHC IR Phase I Upgrade

Description: After a number of years of operation at nominal parameters, the LHC will be upgraded for higher luminosity. This paper discusses the possibility of using a limited number of Nb{sub 3}Sn quadrupoles for hybrid optics layouts for the LHC Phase I luminosity upgrades with both NbTi and Nb{sub 3}Sn quadrupoles. Magnet parameters and issues related to using Nb{sub 3}Sn quadrupoles including aperture, gradient, magnetic length, field quality, operation margin, et cetera are discussed.
