District Reliance by Service Function: A Study of Public Financing of American Special Districts

Description: This article provides an exploratory investigation of special district finance reliance from expenditure reliance of general–purpose governments on special districts’ service delivery and financing mode of special districts. The study shows that special districts have replaced the role of general-purpose governments and which revenue sources districts rely on the most.

Theory-Based Failure Modes and Effect Analysis for Medication Errors

Description: This article presents a hybrid decision-making approach to assigning different weights to risk factors and considering the uncertainty in the ranking process in the Failure Modes and Effect Analysis (FMEA) technique. Findings highlight improper medication administration as the main failure mode, which can result in a fatality or patient injury and the utilization of multiple-criteria decision-making methods in combination with Z-number as a useful tool in the healthcare management field.

Effects of UV Stabilizers on Polypropylene Outdoors

Description: This article looks at hindered amine light stabilizers (HALSs) and nano ZnO were used to stabilize polypropylene (PP) film-based formulations that were exposed to ultraviolet (UV) light for different lengths of time, simulating the harsh outdoor weather of Dallas, Texas, USA. UV doses applied in our laboratory are 121 times larger than the UV dose provided by the sunlight in Texas. 15 different compositions were studied. The combination of HALSs and nano-ZnO stabilizers makes the PP films harder—which is important for some PP applications, such as toy manufacturing.

Description: 3D dataset model of a facsimile of a 16th century woodcut illustrating a typecaster at work. The model is 4 inches by 4 inches square, and should print type high: 0.918 inches. To print on a standard FDM printer, a smaller mm. nozzle is necessary. A resin print of this dataset was set in a locked form of a tabletop roller press, inked, and printed successfully.
