Electronic Structure of CeFeAsO1-xFx (x=0, 0.11/x=0.12) compounds

Description: We report an extensive study on the intrinsic bulk electronic structure of the high-temperature superconductor CeFeAsO{sub 0.89}F{sub 0.11} and its parent compound CeFeAsO by soft and hard x-ray photoemission, x-ray absorption and soft-x-ray emission spectroscopies. LaCl{sub 3}:Ce scintillator for Gamma ray detection

Description: In this paper, we report on a relatively new cerium doped scintillator - LaCl3 for gamma ray spectroscopy. Crystals of this scintillator have been grown using Bridgman method. This material when doped with 10 percent cerium has high light output ({approx} 50,000 photons/MeV) and fast principal decay time constant ({approx}20 ns). Pyrochlore-rich titanate ceramics for the immobilization of plutonium: redox effects on phase equilibria in cerium- and thorium- substituted analogs

Description: Three compositions representing plutonium-free analogs of a proposed Ca-Ti-Gd-Hf-U-PU oxide ceramic for the immobilization of plutonium were equilibrated at 1 atm, 1350 C over a range of oxygen fugacities between air and that equivalent to the iron-wuestite buffer. Description: A series of CuMgCeO{sub x} catalysts have been prepared by coprecipitating the corresponding metal nitrates with a mixed solution of potassium carbonate and potassium hydroxide. Kinetic studies of methanol and ethanol coupling reactions on K-Cu/MgO/CeO{sub 2} and MgO/CeO{sub 2} catalysts indicate that Cu enhances the rates of alcohol dehydrogenation. Incorporation of radionuclides in the alteration phases of spent nuclear fuel.

Description: Alteration may be expected for spent nuclear fuel exposed to groundwater under oxidizing conditions such as that which exist at the proposed nuclear waste repository at Yucca Mountain, Nevada.
