Summary report on safety and licensing strategy support for the ABR prototype.

Description: Argonne National Laboratory is providing support to the US Department of Energy in the Global Nuclear Energy Partnership (GNEP) in certification of an advanced, sodium-cooled fast reactor. The reactor is to be constructed as a prototype for future commercial power reactors that will produce electricity while consuming actinides recovered from light water reactor spent fuel. This prototype reactor has been called the Advanced Burner Reactor, or ABR, and is now often referred to as the advanced r… more

Analysis of the CRBRP part-load conditions using SSC/MINET

Description: The Super System Code (SSC), coupled with the MINET (Momentum Integral Network) Code, was used to determine the plausibility of these postulated plant conditions, particularly with regard to whether the heat exchangers have sufficient heat transfer area for these conditions to prevail. The SSC/MINET representation of the Clinch River Plant used for the part load study is shown. SSC was used to analyze the reactor, the primary loop, and most of the intermediate loop. MINET was used for the rest … more

Report on water quality, sediment and water chemistry data for water and sediment samples collected from source areas to Melton Hill and Watts Bar reservoirs

Description: Contamination of surface water and sediments in the Clinch River and Watts Bar Reservoir (CR/WBR) system as a result of past and present activities by the US Department of Energy (DOE) on the Oak Ridge Reservation (ORR) and also activities by non-ORR facilities are being studied by the Clinch River Environmental Restoration Program (CR-ERP). Previous studies have documented the presence of heavy metals, organics, and radionuclides in the sediments of reservoirs in the vicinity. In support of th… more
