Performance of a 1.3 GHZ Normal-Conducting 5-Cell Standing-Wave Cavity

Description: A 5-cell, normal-conducting, 1.3 GHz, standing-wave (SW) cavity was built as a prototype capture accelerator for the ILC positron source. Although the ILC uses predominantly superconducting cavities, the capture cavity location in both a high radiation environment and a solenoidal magnetic field requires it to be normal conducting. Spatial resolution limits for synchrotron-based spectromicroscopy in the mid- and near-infrared

Description: Spatial resolution tests were performed on beamline 1.4.4 at the Advanced Light Source in Berkeley, CA, USA, a third-generation synchrotron light source. This beamline couples the high-brightness synchrotron source to a Thermo-Electron Continumum XL infrared microscope. Two types of resolution tests were performed in both the mid-IR and near-IR. Microwave measurements of the ETA accelerating cavity

Radiation measurements in the North arc: November 1986 through April 1987

Description: This paper is an effort to share preliminary data on radiation measurements. Measurements were made using passive lithium-flouride thermoluminescent dosimeters (TLD) placed in the North arc during the start-up period of the Stanford Linear Collider (SLC). Li-7 dosimeters were used for ionizing radiation measurements, and Li-6 dosimeters moderated by polyethylene were used for measuring neutrons. Dispersion in the Presence of Strong Transverse Wakefields

A Compact X-Band Linac for an X-Ray FEL

Description: With the growing demand for FEL light sources, cost issues are being reevaluated. To make the machines more compact, higher frequency room temperature linacs are being considered, specifically ones using C-band (5.7 GHz) rf technology, for which 40 MV/m gradients are achievable. Picosecond-Resolution "Slice" Emittance Measurement of Electron-Bunches.

Description: The Slice Emittance diagnostic is applicable to particle bunches in a linac that are of the order of a few degrees of phase long. In this technique, the transverse phase space of a longitudinal slice about one degree long is measured. The Slice Emittance diagnostic has been demonstrated on an electron bunch produced by a laser-photocathode RF gun.
