Measurement of the B -> Omega l Nu and B -> Eta l Nu Branching Fractions Using Neutrino Reconstruction

Description: The authors present a study of the charmless semileptonic B-meson decays B{sup +} {yields} {omega}{ell}{sup +}{nu} and B{sup +} {yields} {eta}{ell}{sup +}{nu}. The analysis is based on 383 million B{bar B} pairs recorded at the {Upsilon}(4S) resonance with the BABAR detector. Nucleosynthesis in Early Neutrino Driven Winds

Description: Two recent issues related to nucleosynthesis in early proton-rich neutrino winds are investigated. In the first part we investigate the effect of nuclear physics uncertainties on the synthesis of {sup 92}Mo and {sup 94}Mo. Based on recent experimental results, we find that the proton rich winds of the model investigated here can not be the only source of the solar abundance of {sup 92}Mo and {sup 94}Mo. New Prospects for High-energy Neutrinos from gamma-ray Bursts

Description: High-energy neutrinos from Gamma-Ray Bursts (GRBs) have been expected since the pre-Swift era. Such signals may be detected by future large neutrino detectors such as IceCube. Recently Swift has shown several novel phenomena. We suggest the new prospects for high-energy neutrino emission in the Swift era. Expected signals, if detected, are useful for revealing of the nature of GRBs.

Description: Elastic scattering of neutrino on proton is studied in the Weinberg-Salam gauge model of neutral currents. Implications of HARP Results for the Energy of the Proton Driver for a Neutrino Factory and Muon Collider

Description: Cross-section data from the HARP experiment for pion production by protons from a tantalum target have been convoluted with the acceptance of the front-end channel for the proposed neutrino factory or muon collider and integrated over the full phase space measured by HARP, to determine the beam-energy dependence of the muon yield. Beam manipulation and compression using broadband rf systems in the Fermilab Main Injector and Recycler

Description: A novel method for beam manipulation, compression, and stacking using a broad band RF system in circular accelerators is described. The method uses a series of linear voltage ramps in combination with moving barrier pulses to azimuthally compress, expand, or cog the beam. Superconducting magnets for induction linac phase-rotation in a neutrino factory

Description: The neutrino factory[1-3] consists of a target section where pions are produced and captured in a solenoidal magnetic field. Pions in a range of energies from 100 Mev to 400 MeV decay into muons in an 18-meter long channel of 1.25 T superconducting solenoids. The warm bore diameter of these solenoids is about 600 mm. CPT Tests: Kaon vs neutrinos

Description: CPT violation has an impressive limit in the neutral kaon system |m(K{sup 0})-m({bar K}{sup 0})| < 10{sup -18} m{sub K} = 0.50 x 10{sup -18} GeV. Description: A conceptual design of a muon acceleration based on recirculating superconducting linacs is proposed. Synchronization of the Fermilab Booster and Main Injector for multiple batch injection

Primordial nucleosynthesis during the keV era

Description: Energetic hadronic and electromagnetic showers in the keV era of the hot big bang are produced by the decays of long lived particles. These showers initiate a new phase of nucleosynthesis. Neutrino Physics at Fermilab

Description: The Liquid Scintillator Neutrino Detector (LSND), located at the LANSCE (formerly LAMPF) linear accelerator at Los Alamos National Laboratory, has seen evidence for the oscillation of neutrinos, and hence neutrino mass. That discovery was the impetus for this LDRD project, begun in 1996. The goal of this project was to define the appropriate technologies to use in a follow up experiment and to set in place the requirements for such an experiment.

Rare K+ Decays from Experiment E787

Description: This paper presents the latest results from experiment E787, at Brookhaven National Laboratory, on K{sup +} {r_arrow} {pi}{sup +} {nu}{bar {nu}} and radiative K{sup +} decays. The result for K{sup +} {r_arrow} {pi}{sup +} {nu}{bar {nu}} uses data collected in runs taken during 1995, 1996 and 1997. Neutrino propagation in matter with general interactions.

Description: We present a general analysis of the effective potential for neutrino propagation in matter, assuming a generic set of Lorentz invariant non-derivative interactions. We find that in addition to the known vector and axial vector terms, in a polarized medium also tensor interactions can play an important role. The digital optical module - How IceCube will acquire data
