Preliminary Reconnaissance Work in the Rattlesnake Area, Apache County, Arizona

Description: From introduction: The Bluff-Salt Wash contact was mapped on aerial photographs. Mines and prospects were also plotted on the photos. The mines and prospects were studied and a brief description of the mineralization and its occurrence was written. These field notes, which will be given to Hatfield and party, contain data on the presence of carbon and fossil logs, lithology of the gangue rock, sedimentary structures, etc. Regional structure and evidence for igneous activity were also noted.

The interview includes Cox's personal experiences about childhood and early adulthood in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and Colorado, World War-II-era Army Air Corps training in armaments and electronics, stateside service in the 303rd Bomb Group of the Eighth Air Force, aviation cadet training, serving as a B-25 instructor pilot, and as a DC-3 tow pilot for the glider program.

Oral History Interview with B. B. Gunn, October 5, 1995

Description: Interview with B. B. Gunn, a former member of the Civilian Conservation Corps from Mart, Texas. Gunn discusses growing up in a family of tenant farmers, joining the CCC, assignment to a camp at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, its organization, building a telephone line, daily routine, recreation, religious services, desertion, and dam construction. In appendix are two newspaper clippings mentioning CCC history and a letter to Mr. Gunn.
