Aerothermodynamic analysis of the SNAP-27 fuel cask

Description: An aerothermodynamic analysis of the SNAP-27 LEM fuel cask is presented for each of three mission aborts. Aerodynamic models for point mass and six degree-of-freedom trajectories are used, and the fuel cask heating rates and temperature responses are predicted for these trajectories. A survey of analytical and experimental studies of separated flow is related to the fuel cask, and a shock tunnel test program is outlined for further fuel cask analyses.

Fortran Program Kine: Calculating Kinematical and Dynamical Quantities for Particle Interactions and Decays

Description: FORTRAN program KINE is a calling routine for a collection of seven subroutines. Each subroutine calculates interesting kinematical and dynamical quantities for the particle reaction 1 + 2 {yields} 3 + 4 by applying special relativity to the process in the form of the Lorentz transformation. The reaction is completely specified if, in addition to the rest masses involved, two of the physical variables are specified. The subroutines perform calculations for the most useful combinations of these … more

Investigation of the Mass Transfer Properties of Saline Water Systems

Description: From Introduction: "This investigation was undertaken in order to obtain the appropriate property data for both binary and muticomponent salt solutions and to determine the usefulness of the simple Nernst-type equations, compared with more exact flux-driving force equations, for predicting species transport in molecular diffusion processes of importance in desalination research. The following sections present the details of the approaches taken to each of the tasks and the results derived from … more

Manufacturing Section semiannual summary report, period ending June 30, 1966

Description: This is the second semiannual issue of reactor and power operations data for the Hanford Production Reactors. Summary data from the first issue (1) are repeated for comparison. Experience during each succeeding six months period will be added to these data in later reports until two full years of operating experience are shown. For comparison purposes, the two years of experience will then continue to be shown by dropping and adding a six months period with each semiannual issue. This report is… more

Research on Pumping Unit Studies: Final Evaluation Report

Description: From Introduction and Purpose of Studies: "The Bureau of Reclamation was engaged to administer contracts with pump manufactures to supply data on large pumping units capable of withstanding aerated sea water and the hot brine solutions to be encountered in such plants. The data, as evaluated in this report, are to be made available to 15 or more architect-engineers who have been engaged to prepare conceptual designs of the treatment plants."
