INEX simulations of the optical performance of the AFEL

Description: The AFEL (Advanced Free-Electron Laser) Project at Los Alamos National Laboratory is presently under construction. The project's goal is to produce a very high-brightness electron beam which will be generated by a photocathode injector and a 20 MeV rf-linac. Picotron 100 streak tubes as a 150-channel photometer

Description: The characterization of a streak camera based upon Picotron 100 tube types is given. Both a large (30 cm 1 x 10 cm dia.) and a small (18 cm 1 x 5 cm dia.) version of this design has been tested. Over 150 channels of information are simultaneously time resolved with system S.N.R. of 3 at 100 picosecond time resolution without post intensification. Design and performance of liquid hydrogen target systems for the Fermilab Fixed Target Program

Description: The Fermilab 1990--1991 Fixed Target Program featured six experiments utilizing liquid hydrogen or liquid deuterium targets as part of their apparatus. Each design was optimized to the criteria of the experiment, resulting in variations of material selection, methods of refrigeration and secondary containment. Use of molybdenum ion source electrodes at RTNS-II

Description: Reports are reported for an ongoing effort to optimize D+ beam production by the MATS-III ion source used at RTNS-II. The three seven-aperture electrodes, originally consisting of water-cooled copper, have now been tested using uncooled molybdenum and with water cooling on the second (decel) electrode only. Description: This report documents the development of a current transformer system used to measure pulsed ion beam currents with a wide dynamic intensity range (nA to mA, and factor of 10{sup 6}). Estimates of SASE power in the short wavelength region

Description: Given a sufficiently bright electron beam, the self-amplified-spontaneous emission (SASE) can provide gigawatts of short wavelength coherent radiation. Transient thermal analysis of three fast-charging latent heat storage configurations for a space-based power system

New generation of arc and arc filament power supplies for pulsed neutral beams

Description: The new Tandem Mirror Experiment (TMX) facility at LLL requires that neutral beams operate for pulse lengths between 25 and 100 ms.
