Description: Mice exposed to moderate does of total body x-radiation have been found to develop septicemias during the second week post-irradiation. The Gram-Negative Flora of the Upper Intestinal Tract and Its Influence on Post-Irradiation Bacteremia in Mice

Description: A systematic study of the flora of the intestinal tract of mice exposed to 550 r of total body x radiation showed an increase in all the Gram negative bacilli in the upper half of the small bowel about the end of the first week post irradiation. When the flora of the gut was changed artificially by introducing about 10 Pseudomonas aeruginosa the effect produced increased with the lapse of time after exposure to irradiation. The Metabolism of Radioactive Vitamin B12 by the Ruminant

Description: Radio-vitamin B12 excretion by the ruminant has been investigated following both oral and intramuscular administration to two young dairy calves. The results obtained indicated that the vitamin is retained to a much greater extent when given by subcutaneous injection than when given orally. This is in contract to previous work with the rat, where the amounts retained were similar, although the pathway of excretion was different.
