Parables of our Lord

Description: An elegant gift volume from the early Victorian era consisting of a selection of parables from the New Testament. The text is done in a calligraphic style, with ornate illuminated borders. Within many of the borders are small illustrations of the text. The text and illuminations were recreated from the originals by chromolithographs. The binding is a "papier-mâché" binding, consisting of front and back covers of deeply-molded black paper-mâché and a leather spine.

Mite

Description: The 1st printing of The Mite was produced in 1891, and was at the time the smallest book in the world printed with movable type. This 2nd printing was produced in 1893, and a third printing was done in 1896. The text, a collection of facts and information, is supplemented with various illustrations. In 1896, Salmin of Padova, Italy, printed their Galileo A Madama Christina Di Lorena, which supplanted The Mite as the smallest book in the world printed with movable type. It may still, however, be the smallest book printed in England with movable type.

Description: Set of 11 wooden blocks, hand-painted, which make up the bodies of Tommy the soldier and his horse Dobbin. Contained in wooden box with sliding lid, lid with colored illustration of the blocks and title; underside of lid with colored illustration showing 5 different ways the blocks can be arranged to make Tommy & Dobbin in different poses. Affixed to inside bottom of case is a second colored illustration showing 6 more poses.
