Theory of Superfluidity and Critical Velocity in Helium II

Description: The theory of superfluidity of helium II doesn't cover one important phenomenon--the existence of a critical velocity for which the theory is not able to explain quantitatively. This paper looks to conduct experiments on the need for substantial alterations of the helium II theory.

New Type Automatic Gas Alarm

Description: In producing safe and healthful working conditions in chemical plants the authors study an automatic signaling device which becomes activated when concentrations of ethyl chloride, bromine, and iodine vapors in the air increase above permissible limits.

Negative Ions of Rubidium and Cesium

Description: While investigating the composition of ions formed in a gaseous discharge in the vapors of LiCl, NaI and KI, the authors observed the occurrence of negative ions of lithium, sodium and potassium in the discharge.

Some Additional Corrections to the Modern Theory and Nomenclature of Complex Compounds

Description: In this paper the author will give more detailed consideration to the applicability of concepts in the care of the formation of complex compounds. In a previous paper a number of criteria which must be considered in judging the stability of a chemical compound, particularly recommended comparison of electronic and nuclear structures for compounds having atomic bonds.

Chemical Reactions by Neutron-Capture (Szilard-Chalmers Effect)

Description: With the energies of nuclear reactions being superior by several orders of magnitude to those of chemical reactions, the nature of the chemical bond can be expected to influence the rate of nuclear reactions in only rare cases. Rather than discuss those chemical reactions the paper focuses on chemical reactions in which the atom under study undergo both nuclear and chemical reactions.

Contribution to the Problem Concerning the Surface Conductivity of Solid Dielectrics

Description: A study was made of the surface conductivity of glass, quartz, mica, nitrofilm, polymers, methyl-metacrylate, styrene, isobutylene, high-molecular paraffin. The conductivity was studies for the purpose of determining the number of ions found on the surface of a dielectric, which is necessary for the study of the iono-heterogeneous catalysis.
