USAEC Airborne Radiometric Reconnaissance in Arizona, California, Nevada and New Mexico, 1953 to 1956

Description: From introduction: This is one of a series of three reports on airborne radioactivity surveys in the United States. The reports contain the 185 airborne anomaly maps issued by the U. S. Atomic Energy Commission as a result of the AEC's aerial surveying program conducted from March 1952 to June 1956; two ground reconnaissance maps of Utah also are included. Most of the reconnaissance was done in the western United States.

Geological Study of Uranium Potential of the Kingston Peak Formation, Death Valley Region, California: Final Report

Description: From introduction: Our particular interest in the uranium potential of the Proterozoic quartz-pebble and quartzite-pebble conglomerates of the Kingston Peak Formation has been based upon: 1. Known uranium occurrences of low to intermediate grade in a peliticarkosic sulfide-bearing unit near the base of the formation; the "Favorable Submember" of this report. 2. Uranium occurrences and widespread anomalies in underlying Proterozoic granitic-metamorphic rocks, including the World Beater Complex, within and bordering the basin in which the conglomerates were deposited. 3. Reported minor shows of uranium associated with extensive anomalous radioactivity in the conglomerates themselves.

Airborne Gamma-Ray Spectrometer and Magnetometer Survey: Final Report, Volume 2, Fresno Quadrangle (California)

Description: From introduction: The Fresno sheet of the Geologic Map of California (California) Division of Mines and Geology, 1978) was used as a basis for the interpretation of the geophysical data. The formation descriptions in Appendix C are derived from this map. Parts of three physiographic provinces are present in the Fresno quadrangle (Albers, 1966)...

Airborne Gamma-Ray Spectrometer and Magnetometer Survey: Final Report, Volume 2, Mariposa Quadrangle (California, Nevada)

Description: Introduction: The geologic map of the Mariposa quadrangle, which was used as a basis for the interpretation, was supplied by Bendix Field Engineering Corporation. The Formation descriptions in Appendix C are derived from this map supplemented with information from California Division of Mines and Geology (1967).

Hydrogeochemical and Stream-Sediment Survey (NURE): Preliminary Report on the Walker River Basin Study (California/Nevada)

Description: From introduction: The objective of this survey is to develop a geochemical data base for use by the private sector to locate regions of anomalous uranium content. Prior to wide area coverage, several pilot studies are being undertaken to develop and evaluate sampling and analytical techniques. The first of these studies was conducted in the Walker River Basin.

NURE Aerial Gamma-Ray and Magnetic Reconnaissance Survey, Colorado-Arizona Area, Salton Sea, Phoenix, El Centro, Ajo, and Lukeville Quadrangles: Final Report, Volume 1, Appendix H

Description: Data listings from the reduced data tapes for each of the National Topographic Map Series quadrangles (Salton Sea NI 11-9, Phoenix NI 12-7, El Centro NI 11-12, Ajo NI 12-10, Lukeville NH 12-1) to accompany the report on the reconnaissance survey. The pages document the quadrangle, survey company, survey area, year, and line number; they include single record reduced data listings and averaged record data listings.

Aerial Radiometric and Magnetic Survey: Goldfield National Topographic Map, California and Nevada. Volume 1

Description: From operational program: This final report includes a general geologic description of the area, including descriptions of the various geologic units and correlates the airborne data to the geologic units as provided by the geologic maps. Also included is a frequency distribution study of the data as a function of the geologic units encountered over the NTMS area including the tie line data. This report also consists of a discussion of the area surveyed and includes all single record reduced data and averaged record data listings on microfiche.

Preliminary Study of the Uranium Favorability of Granitic and Contact-Metamorphic Rocks of the Owens Valley Area, Inyo and Mono Counties California, and Esmeralda and Mineral Counties, Nevada

Description: From summary: Granitic and contact-metamorphic rocks of the Owens Valley area were sampled to determine their favorability for uranium. Uranium deposits associated with these rocks were examined to determine the mode of occurrence.

Preliminary Study of the Uranium Favorability of Mesozoic Intrusive and Tertiary Volcanic and Sedimentary Rocks of the Central Mojave Desert, Kern and San Bernardino Counties, California

Description: From purpose and scope: The purpose of this project was to determine the uranium favorability of Mesozoic intrusive rocks and Tertiary volcanic and sedimentary rocks in the central Mojave Desert. The project was conducted by Bendix Field Engineering Corporation (BFEC) under the auspices of the Grand Junction Office of the U.S. Energy Research and Development Administration (ERDA). The scope of the project included determination of the uranium content of different rock types, determination of the nature and extent of rock characteristics favorable for the formation of uranium deposits, and examination of known uranium deposits.

National Uranium Resource Evaluation: Data Release on the Salton Sea Quadrangle, California and Arizona

Description: From objectives: In the Salton Sea Quadrangle, reported uranium occurrences were evaluated, and geologic environments thought to be favorable were examined. This report includes the field data collected during that work and a summary of the quadrangle geology and uranium favorability. This is the final report to be prepared on this quadrangle under the NURE program.
