Basic Human Factors Task Data Relationships in Aerospace System Design and Development

Description: Report describing a study of the generation, use, and flow of human factors task data in aerospace system design and development. Dynamic processes in networks within which data flow are shown to be extensive in size, pervasive in nature, and complex are illustrated in flow diagrams showing the relationships of human factors task data and their input/output elements in functional analysis for planning, specifications, task analysis, human engineering, reliability, maintainability, qualitative a… more

Development of a High-Speed Low Jitter Scanning Technique for Application to Radar Simulation

Description: Report describing a breadboard model scanner modified to incorporate a six-lens, rotating optical scanning system and sync. pulse generation circuitry. The modified scanner consists of a laser light source, a beam expander, a beam normalizer, a six-lens, air-bearing, rotating optical scanning system, a holder for a 2-inch-wide transparency, a light collector, a photo-multiplier assembly, a video amplifier, sync. pulse generation circuits and a high voltage power supply. Using a laser source to … more

Reliability of Selected How-Mal Code Clusters: B-58 System

Description: Report describing a study to identify which groups of How-Mal (AFM 66-1) codes are redundant, i.e., are equivalent within a group. The frequencies of use of the 35 most frequently used How-Mal codes over 4 types of maintenance actions and 203 subassemblies of the B-58 were analyzed statistically. A principal-axis factor analysis revealed 14 groups of codes, 3 of which were found in a previous study. Twenty of the codes accounted for 95% of the 12,041 malfunctions reported. The frequencies of ap… more
