Use of Digital Land-Cover Data from the Landsat Satellite in Estimating Streamflow Characteristics in the Cumberland Plateau of Tennessee

Description: From introduction: The objective of the present study is to test the feasibility of improving upon the regression equations for estimating streamflow in areas affected by coal mining in the Cumberland Plateau of Tennessee by using land-cover information derived from digital processing of Landsat spectral data. The purpose of this report is to summarize the procedures and significant results of this study.

Ground Water in Carbonate Rocks and Regolith in the Fairview Area, Tennessee

Description: From abstract: Fourteen test wells drilled in the Fairview area, Tennessee, produce from 3 to 100 gallons per minute and have an average yield of 32 gallons per minute; yields were measured while blowing water from the wells with compressed air. In comparison, the average yield of 134 supply wells reported by drillers is 13 gallons per minute. Specific capacities for three of the test wells ranged from 0.3 to 0.6 gallons per minute per foot of drawdown after 8 hours of pumping at 20 to 47 gallo… more

Man-Induced Channel Adjustment in Tennessee Streams

Description: Preface: This report is an attempt to relate the effects of channel modifications to the resulting instabilities in the fluvial system. The primary objective is to provide the Tennessee Department of Transportation with information concerning channel stability in relation to river crossing structures. Several new analytical techniques are presented that can aid in the understanding of channel adjustment to natural and man-induced stress. The methods of analyses presented herein should be applic… more
