Aztec Quadrangle, New Mexico and Colorado

Description: From purpose and scope: The purpose of the National Uranium Resource Evaluation (NURE) program of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is to identify and delineate areas and environments within the Aztec 10X20 Quadrangle, New Mexico and Colorado, that exhibit characteristics favorable for the occurrence of uranium deposits that have the potential to contain at least 100 metric tons U3 08 total endowment with a minimum grade of 100 ppm (0.01 percent) U3 08 . Evaluation is based on geochemical, mi… more

Characteristics of Urban Runoff from Grange Hall Creek at Northglenn, Adams County, Colorado

Description: Purpose: The purpose of the study was to (1) determine quantity and quality of urban runoff from the upper Grange Hall Creek drainage basin in Northglenn; (2) identify constituents exceeding water-quality standards for agricultural waters; (3) compare differences in quality between dry-weather flow, snowmelt runoff and rainfall runoff; (4) determine rainfall-runoff relationships; (5) investigate relationships between constituent concentrations, specific conductance, and streamflow; and (6) sugg… more

A Data-Management System for Areal Interpretive Data for the High Plains in Parts of Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, and Wyoming

Description: From abstract: The High Plains Regional Aquifer System Analysis study has developed a regional water-resources (and related) data storage and retrieval system to organize and preserve areal interpretive data. The system is general and can easily be adapted for other studies. This report documents the High Plains data base as well as the general system that is independent of the High Plains area.

Digital-Transport Model Study of the Potential Effects of Coal-Resource Development on the Ground-Water System in the Yampa River Basin, Moffat and Routt Counties, Colorado

Description: From abstract: Large increases in coal mining currently (1979) taking place in the Yampa River basin are expected to continue during the 1980's and may adversely impact both the ground-water and surface-water quality in the basin. One potential source of adverse impact is the dissolution of soluble minerals contained in the overburden material disturbed during the mining. This potential impact was investigated using digital ground-water transport-modeling techniques.

Hydrologic-Information Needs for Oil-Shale Development, Northwestern Colorado

Description: From purpose: The purpose of this report is to summarize existing hydrologic information in the Piceance basin, to describe types of needed information, to suggest methods of obtaining needed information, and to outline standards for collection. The report also will provide guidance for comprehensive integrated hydrologic studies that will be necessary for water-resource planning in oil-shale development. These studies should provide hydrologic understanding that will benefit all aspects of wat… more

Impact of Reservoir-Development Alternatives on Streamflow Quantity in the Yampa River Basin, Colorado and Wyoming

Description: From abstract: "In the Yampa River basin, Colorado-Wyoming, 35 major reservoirs and 2 transmountain diversion have been proposed to provide additional water for increasing uses. A multireservoir-flow computer model was used to simulate effects on streamflow of five potential options--one representing historical conditions and four representing various degrees of reservoir and transmountain-diversion development." It contains maps and tables.

National Uranium Resource Evaluation: Cortez Quadrangle, Colorado and Utah

Description: From Introduction: "The Cortez 1º x 2º Quadrangle, southwestern Colorado and southeastern Utah (Fig. 1), was studied to identify and evaluate areas and geologic formations that are favorable for the occurrence of uranium deposits of specific minimum size and grade."

National Uranium Resource Evaluation: Greeley Quadrangle, Colorado

Description: Abstract: Eleven areas have been identified in the Greeley 1° x 2° Quadrangle, Colorado, that appear to be favorable for the occurrence of uranium having a minimum of 100 tons of U₃O at grades of 0.01 percent or better. Nine of these are in the Front Range metamorphic and igneous environment, and two are in the Great Plains sedimentary environment. The two favorable areas in the Plains are underlain by the Fox Hills and Laramie Formations and are favorable for "Texas" roll-type (Subclass 242) a… more

National Uranium Resource Evaluation: La Junta Quadrangle, Colorado and Kansas

Description: From Introduction: "The La Junta Quadrangle, Colorado and Kansas (Fig. 1), was evaluated to identify and delineate areas and geologic units to a depth of 1500 m (5,000 ft) that exhibit characteristics favorable for the occurrence of uranium deposits, which could contain at least 100 tons U3O8 and have an average grade of not less than 100 ppm U3O8."

National Uranium Resource Evaluation: Lamar Quadrangle, Colorado and Kansas

Description: Abstract: Uranium resources of the Lamar Quadrangle, Colorado and Kansas, were evaluated using National Uranium Resource Evaluation criteria. The environment favorable for uranium is the Lower Cretaceous Dakota Sandstone in the area east of John Martin Reservoir for south Texas roll-type sandstone deposits. Carbonaceous trash and sulfides are abundant in the Dakota Sandstone. The unit underlies a thick Upper Cretaceous section that contains bentonitic beds and uraniferous marine black shale. Wa… more
