Adsorption of organics from tar sand water by activated carbon in packed beds. Final report

Description: The adsorption of TS-1S and TS-2C tar sand waters were studied at 278 and 298/sup 0/K on activated carbon in both batch and packed bed experiments. The isotherms were nonlinear over the entire liquid concentration ranges. Breakthrough curves were obtained in packed bed experiments as a function of bed lengths, particle size, and liquid velocity. Advanced direct coal liquefaction. Quarterly technical progress report No. 2, December 1983-February 1984

Description: Five Bench-Scale coal liquefaction runs were completed with Wyoming subbituminous coal in a two-stage process scheme. Aerated atomization of coal-water slurry fuels

Description: In order to observe the effects of rheology on the atomization of highly viscous non-Newtonian liquids, glycerin-water solutions and cellulose-glycerin-water solutions have been atomized. Alternative power supply and dump resistor connections for similar, mutally coupled, superconducting coils

Description: Alternative methods of connecting similar mutually coupled coils to their power supplies and dump resistors are investigated. The circuits are evaluated for both operating and fault conditions. The factors considered are the voltage to ground during a dump, short circuits, open circuits, quenches, and failure of the protection system to detect a quench.
