Reconnaissance for radioactivity in the metal-mining districts of the San Juan Mountains, Colorado

Description: "A reconnaissance for radioactive minerals in the San Juan Mountains, Colo. (fig. 1), was started in the western part by W.S. Burbank and C.T. Pierson in 1951, and continued in 1952 by Pierson, W.F. Weeks, and F.J. Kleinhampl, and in 1953 by Pierson and T.H.W. Loomis of the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission in the western part of the mountains in reconnaissance and in examination of a pitchblende occurrence found by Loomis. The work on which this paper is based was done by the Geological Survey on behalf of the Division of Raw Materials of the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission."
