Description: "The alfalfa caterpillar is one of the most destructive insect pests of alfalfa in the southwestern United States. In 1914 a complete report of the life history of this caterpillar, together with the methods of control, was published. The present paper contains additional information relating to methods of controlling the pest by the management of irrigation water as well as a brief account of its natural history, and is intended to meet the ever-increasing demands of ranchers and others for assistance in protecting their alfalfa against these "green worms." -- p. 3
