Evening Jacket

Description: Jacket of black satin covered with velvet floral and embroidery appliques. Hip-length jacket flares from waist to hem. Standing portrait collar with sweetheart neckline. Long fitted sleeves with flared black satin cuffs. Center front opening with 5 non-functioning large circular black satin covered buttons and various hidden hooks and snaps. Complex inner structure. Jacket has inner boned bustier-like structure that zippers up front and has inner petersham belt below bust. Jacket "shell" is attached to this structure. All parts lined. Description: Hat created with a green and white silk scarf printed with a plaid pattern. The framework is a domed crown, higher at front than back, over which the silk scarf is fastened, pulled to back forming knotted ornament with trailing end. Lined in white mesh tulle, through which the under-structure can be seen. Inner pale green and white grosgrain ribbon hatband, with translucent brown plastic comb at inside front to secure to wearer's head. No designer's label.

Picture Hat

Description: Picture hat of finely woven navy blue Milan straw. The domed crown is encircled at base by a navy blue velvet band, tied with bow at right side, with two trailing ribbons that extend to back of hat, and two ribbons that extend to right and are attached along top of brim, and continue along underside of brim to inner hatband. The wide brim is turned up and over at very edge forming slight rim. The hat is unlined, with inner blue grosgrain ribbon hatband, to which is secured a small plastic comb to secure to wearer's head. Description: Picture hat of natural straw lace. The low, domed crown is covered with black velvet, and encircled at the base with wide ribbon of the same velvet, with bow and trailing ends at back. The wide brim is of straw lace with a medium-fine mesh and wider bands creating concentric chevrons around the brim. The brim is lined in black fabric, with inner black grosgrain hatband, to the front of which is attached a single small clear plastic comb to secure hat to wearer's head. Picture Hat

Description: Picture hat of woven natural straw. The low, slightly domed crown is encircled at base by a band of dark brown velvet ribbon, with bow and trailing ribbons at back right. The wide circular brim is almost horizontal, curving very slightly downwards. The crown is unlined, with inner dark brown grosgrain ribbon hatband. The underside of the brim is faced in dark brown velvet matching the velvet band around crown. From the underside of the brim extend two different bands of net mesh veiling, a smaller, open mesh veil from base of crown to nose, and a fine mesh extending from mouth to lower throat. Suit - Jacket and Skirt

Description: Suit (jacket and skirt) of dark brown wool consisting of: Jacket. Single breasted with notched lapel. The center front opening is slightly angled from top left to lower right and has three circular, dark brown, plastic buttons and tailored buttonholes. Long, set-in sleeves have three nonfunctional, smaller, matching buttons with tailored buttonholes at hem. Torso tapers to fitted, natural waist and flares to hips. Vertical, double welt, very shallow side pockets. Lapel, center front opening and hem of sleeves trimmed in thin, black piping. Princess seaming. Lightly padded shoulders. Lined in black silk jacquard with repeated "Jean Dessés" pattern. Skirt. Street length; slightly A-lined. Designed to appear as a wrapped skirt with diagonal opening from left hip to right side hem with five nonfunctional buttons matching jacket, and tailored buttonholes. At center front, from knee height to left side hem, is simulated opening backed by same fabric. Opening has black piping matching jacket. Left side zipper with two hook & eyes on narrow waistband. Lined in black silk, with exception of front panel.

Capelet

Description: Two-tiered capelet of midnight blue/black velvet and off-white lace. Capelet extends to about small of back, and has high, standing collar trimmed in dense ruff of tightly gathered of black chiffon. Around throat, along both sides of center front opening, around hem, and on edges and hem of the wide tier (7" at center front, 8" over shoulders) is wide band of off-white floral and scroll lace, placed as an applique along edges. Day Dress

Description: Day dress of red and purple printed wool knit. Knee-length or slightly below, the dress has a fairly deep rounded neckline and long set-in sleeves. Skirt is gathered at slightly dropped waist. Dress has a center back zipper, and is unlined. The dress is made of of areas of print. The bodice and upper part of the skirt has a geometric print of purple diamond/parallelagram shapes on red ground. The sleeves and lower part of the skirt have a print of large purple squares on red ground, forming a checkerboard pattern. Center back lapped zipper. Unlined.
