Pillbox Hat

Description: Pillbox hat of striped fabric. The low-crowned cylindrical hat is covered in a gray fabric having red, green, black, white, and gold stripes reminiscent of a man's tie. Around the crown the fabric is pleated and draped, giving the effect of a low turban. Lined in a pink satin, with dusty rose pink grosgrain ribbon inner hatband. Glued into the crown lining is a homemade(?) hand embroidered label: "Jo Bailey Hats"

Skirt Suit

Description: Suit of brown and black wool tweed consisting of jacket, skirt, and vest. a) Jacket: princess line jacket of black and brown wool tweed with ivory slubs running through fabric; V-neckline with narrow notched collar and lapels; full-length sleeves are cut with the jacket body and have two triangular shaped gussets under the arm; sleeves are rolled up to form 1-1/2 cuffs; button front closure; buttons of black crocheted cord surrounding a round faceted black gem. b) Skirt of self fabric with self buttons down center-front; mid-length. c) Vest of self fabric with fabric covered buttons down center-front; fitted; approximately 1" wide shoulder straps.

Skirt Suit

Description: Light and charcoal gray two-piece daytime skirt suit with leather belt. Fitted jacket of light gray heavy weight wool, having a V-neckline with moderate shawl collar. 3/4 length sleeves are cut in one with jacket body and supplemented by one triangular shaped gusset under the arm. Lapped centerfront opening with two large, round, gray plastic buttons and bound buttonholes supplemented by single hook&eye at waist seam. One pair of faux pocket flaps at bust level. Leather belt. Plain slim skirt of dark charcoal gray wool, just below knee-length.

Hat

Description: Hat of beige velour. Styled as a modified calotte (also spelled "calot"), the hat has a low domed crown and narrow rolled brim with extends slightly more in front to form a "visor" shape. Set at front of hat is an ornament of crossed large white and beige feathers, and smaller gray and white ones. Underside of visor lined with an off-white jersey-like material, and the hat has an inner hatband of dark gray beige grosgrain ribbon overlaid with silver rickrack and pink lace. Maker's label: "Chapeaux / Paris...Chicago" Stamped inside crown: "Midi / Imported velour body / Made in France"

Calotte Hat

Description: Calotte style hat of stiffened black woven fabric. One black velvet bow in the back and alternating black woven and black velvet "half bows" around edge of crown. Black veil in front. Retailer's label on inside crown: "The Fair / Fort Worth"

Hatlet

Description: Hatlet of off-white grosgrain ribbon. Designed as a wide headband extending across the crown of the head, the net base is covered with rows of pleated off-white grosgrain ribbon. Set at each side is a single rhinestones. Edges have tape binding. Unlined. No labels.

Hat

Description: Hat of sherry black straw (artificial?). Crown is flat-topped and cylindrical. The brim is turned up against the sides of the crown, and has a textured black vinyl bow applied at front. The hat is unlined, with a black grosgrain ribbon inner hatband. Designer's label: "Gladys & Belle / 20 West 57th St. New York"

Hatlet

Description: Hatlet of navy blue faille(?). The open-crown hatlet is formed of a circle of overlapping bows/gathers of fabric, overlaid with a fine mesh veil of navy blue. The hat is lined in a darker blue fabric, which just shows along some edges. Designer's label: "Caprice / New York"

Hat

Description: Hat of white organza. High pillbox crown, 4" deep. Bottom edge of crown encircled with 3" wide bias organdy that ties in large bow at center front. Lined in white silk with white grosgrain ribbon inner headband. Covered wires at sides for securing hat to wearer's head.

Calotte Hat

Description: Calotte of navy straw cloth. Small upturned brim is separate from crown and forms Vs at sides. Pale pink rose with green leaves on left front as trim with navy veil embellished with rhinestones. Lined in navy satin.

Description: Hatlet of fine woven dark blue straw. Low, flattened crown is in the form of a "pancake" hat, with a dark blue velvet bow at front and a small dark blue velvet "button" at back. Designer's label: "Sally V / Designed by Sally Victor" Retailer's label: "Titche Goettinger Co. / Dallas"

Description: Suit hat of black velour. Rounded 4" deep crown. 2" wide front upward turned brim. 1/2" wider at sides, turning downward at center back. Has large black ostrich feather tassel at center back. Lined in netting with gray grosgrain ribbon inner headband. Comb at center front for securing hat to wearer's head.

Hat

Description: Hat of navy blue woven straw and mesh. Designed somewhat as a modified sailor or "Pamela" hat, the high crown is domed at top, and encircled at the base with a mesh band that forms a bow at side. The brim is of navy blue mesh, turning up at outer edge. The outer "walls" formed by the turned-up area is covered in the same woven straw as the crown. Hat is unlined, allowing net understructure to be seen, and has a pink grosgrain ribbon inner hatband. Retailer's label: "Neiman-Marcus / Salon"

Description: Calotte of black straw and black velvet. The calotte (also spelled "calot") has a low, domed black velvet crown overlaid with a "pinwheel" made of large woven black straw triangles. At top of crown is a maroon velvet cord knot. Hat is lined in dark blue, with a dark blue/black grosgrain ribbon inner hatband. Designer's label: "Sally V / Designed by Sally Victor" Retailer's label: "Titche-Goettinger Co / Dallas"
