Description: Evening suit of amethyst acetate with gold braid, embroidery and beads. a) Jacket in a short fitted style with long sleeves. Collarless with gold lace trim around neckline, center front and hem. Hidden center front closure of 4 large, black fabric-covered snaps supplemented with 2 hook & eyes. Fabric is woven with gold threads in a scalloped design embellished on front panels with gold beads and large gold teardrops. Gold lace trim also around armholes. Description: Dress of black silk taffeta. Mid-length, with shallow boat neckline and natural waistline. Kimono

Description: Kimono. Traditional silk kimono with mid-length sleeves. Snaps at collar for removable collar. The whole is of white silk dyed with an all-over pattern of shibori in a pale orange/pink, which creates a tiny grid with dark brownish dots at center of each square. Lined in silk, upper part of light brown (resembles tea dyed?), lower part of white, and lower hem of orange/red.

Bed Jacket

Description: Bed jacket of black openwork. Hip length-jacket is formed of vertical panels of black braid open work net overlaid/appliquéd with black braid in scrolls and arabesques, the whole is lined/backed with black silk. The panels are constructed to create princess seamed segments for shape/fit. Elbow-length sleeves, V-neckline at front with two hook & eye closures on center front. Neckline and upper part of opening trimmed with off-white eyelet lace ruffle. Two black braided circular button-like applied elements at center front, one at either side of opening.

Description: Pantsuit of cocoa brown and ivory silk crepe. a) Tunic style top with jewel neckline trimmed with 8 buttons self-covered buttons and loops at each shoulder. Long straight sleeves. Diagonal seam across the front with left side in ivory and right side in brown. Lined in ivory silk. Combined designer/retailer label pinned to center back neckline: "Norman Norell for Bonwit Teller" Handwritten style number tag at inside right seam, barely legible: "20831-570-8" b) Pants are harlow style. Right leg is cocoa brown and left leg is ivory. Zipper at center front and two hook & eyes on 1" ivory waistband. Lined in ivory silk.

Hat

Description: Hat of dull yellow-green woven straw. The hat is constructed of concentric bands of woven straw mounted on a shaped, stiffed nylon net. The crown is conical in shape, flattened at top, and flaring at the base to merge into the floppy brim. Mounted at front of hat are two large artificial pink silk flowers. Unlined, the crown has an inner double-layer green grosgrain ribbon hatband, and is designed so that the hat "rests" on the head. Half-inch pin tucked front. c) Skirt of black velvet. Slight A-line with a 4" purple silk satin cummerbund waistband. Waistband is reinforced with boning and black grosgrain petersham. Evening Coat

Description: Evening coat of blue French silk brocade which has been hand beaded and embroidered with clear, silver, opalescent and pale blue beads and sequins matching original brocade pattern. High, standing collar, somewhat as a modified cowl. Mid-length sleeves are trimmed in natural Russian golden sable. Front opening, slightly to left of center, secured with three hidden snaps, including two in collar, curved lower edges where opening flaps meet. Lined in silk taffeta. The lower part is slightly A-line with scalloped lower edge, and has one horizontal section mid-way between waist and hem made to have a ribbon threaded through. The center back opening has a 7 1/2" slit at neckline, and a single snap closure.
