Hat

Description: Hat of light brown straw. Hat has a cylindrical crown with flattened top. Around the lower part of the crown is a wide light brown grosgrain ribbon with loop and trailing ribbons at side, secured with two wooden buttons. The wide brim turns down at front and up at back. Unlined, with inner hatband of pale grosgrain ribbon. Label inside: "Elizabeth"

Tricorne

Description: Tricorne of light green straw, black and orange velvet. The hat is designed as a traditional tricorne, or "three-cornered-hat", with a low cylindrical crown of green straw, slightly domed. The wide brim of green straw curls up on three sides, and has cut-back arches at corners. The underside/facing of the brim is lined with black velvet, and edged with a thin band of orange velvet, which is tied in a bow at center top edge of one side. Crown is unlined, but has inner hatband of a striped/plaid fabric. Designer's label inside: "Original / Ruby Ross / California"

Breton Hat

Description: Hat in breton style of gray straw with gray grosgrain ribbon bow edged with gray straw at back of high, upturned brim. Style can also be referred to as pamela, halo or madeline. Unlined with gray grosgrain headband. Designer's label on inside hatband: "Valerie / Modes"

Description: Hat/hood of tan angora with scattered large golden discs/sequins applied over the entire surface. Hat covers head and back of neck, with panels that extend around to secure at center front under chin with one circular button and loop. Retailer's label sewn into right side panel: "Sacks Fifth Avenue" Price tag stapled to left side panel: "100" (1 dollar?)

Picture Hat

Description: Picture hat of natural straw. The low, domed crown is encircled at base by a wide band of lime green grosgrain ribbon with large bow with trailing ends at back right and two trailing ends at left. The wide, circular brim is turned up at left edge. Unlined. Inner hatband of black grosgrain ribbon. Maker's (retailer's?) label sewn to inner hatband: "Henry's / Originals / Dallas". Henrys has been identified alternately as maker or retailer.

Description: Hat of black felt. Styled as a calotte (also spelled "calot"), the low domed crown has a velvet-like appearance. At front, the edge turns up and back, and is covered with black seed beads. At right side is a group of 7" long fine black stripped feathers accented with 5 red wires. Unlined, with inner black grosgrain ribbon hatband. Designer's label sewn to inside headband: "Designed for you / by / Derrieux". Stamped inside of crown: "[coat of arms] / Ruth / Made in Czechoslovakia"

Description: Hat of black sequins over net/lace. Styled as a modified pillbox or beret, the hat has a circular low, flattened crown and no brim. The base is of black lace/net, totally covered with massed black sequins. At sides are small diamond-shaped sections that extend down to either side of wearer's head. Hat is unlined, with black grosgrain ribbon inner hatband. Label inside: "Sequins Styled / and / Imported / from France".

Hat

Description: Picture hat of natural woven Milan straw, forming a wide shaped brim that curves downwards to the edges. Brim is rounded in front, flaring out slightly to back and forming two projecting lobes at back. Around brim is a band of woven straw for strength. Very low cylindrical crown, slightly domed. Around crown is twisted gold velvet band forming bow with trailing ribbons at back. Inside base of crown is off-white grosgrain ribbon band. Hatpin with green faceted rhinestone head. Sewn into inner ribbon band is label: "John Fredericks Inc. / New York", "Made In America". Label has three rhinestones sewn to it, and has two small green ribbon bows at opposing corners.

Headband

Description: Headband of black felt. The hat is designed to fit across the top of the head, coming to a rounded point on left side, and with an enlarged circular end on the left which sits higher on the head. The headband is "peaked" along the length, adding height to wearer. Designer's label sewn inside: "Marcelle Rousseau / Dallas"

Description: Hat of abstract multi-colored plastic. The hat is made of a plastic material, with a pinkish background and swirling abstract shapes of yellow, green, and blue. It has a high, cylindrical crown, flattened at top. The medium-width brim extends out and downwards. The crown is lined in white material, and the hat has an inner hatband of white ribbed ribbon.

Cloche

Description: Cloche hat of navy blue felt. The hat is designed with a domed crown, and a "brim" of three horizontally pleated bands of the same felt extending upwards along the crown at front and sides.
