Coat

Description: Coat of curly sheep or goat fur in shades of brown, white, and gray mixed. Standing collar, single breasted closure and pockets all of brown leather. Closure has 5 circular, brown buttons and bound buttonholes. Long set-in sleeves; midi length. Lined in brown satin(?). Designer's label at right side seam: "Albert Alfus / New York" Retailer's label at center back neckline: "Neiman-Marcus" At right side seam is union label: "Int Ladies Garment Workers Union, Union Made ILGWU 66460" and size tag: "8"

Coat

Description: Coat of leopard(?) and mink. Below-knee length coat of leopard fur, with long sleeves. The shawl collar, center front opening, lower hem, and cuffs of the sleeves are edged with black mink. Two slit pockets at front hips. Fully lined in dark cream silk(?) brocade with gold pattern similar to an Indian sari. Embroidered monogram at inside right: "MER". Designer's label at inside back collar: "Ben Kahn"

Description: Coat of royal blue and dark magenta striped silk with matching belt. A) Coat of royal blue and dark magenta striped silk. Double breasted with 10 1-inch gold with inlaid mother-of-pearl buttons and 5 bound buttonholes. Bermuda collar. 3/4 length sleeves with 3" band cuffs. Two large patch pockets at sides. Lined in navy silk. Four large, covered snaps supplement closure. Coat has been altered by stitching front closed at lower portion of opening to form a "dress". Designer's label at center back neckline: "Norman Norell / New York" B) Covered belt in matching royal blue and dark magenta striped silk. Three inches wide with self covered, rectangular cinch buckle.

Description: Coat dress of black silk taffeta jacquard-woven with supplemental pile design in the weft. Black buttons down front. Flaring skirt. A) Coat dress of black silk taffeta with off-white fuzzy woven-in polka dots. Calf-length(? - depends on petticoats), with a small modified "Peter Pan" turn-down collar, which has attached front bias bands to tie into bow at front of collar. 3/4-length set-in sleeves. Center front opening with 16 black circular plastic buttons, hidden snaps at waist and throat, and hook-and-eye at waist. Full, flaring skirt with 13 gores. Unlined. Combined Designer's/Retailer's label: "Neiman-Marcus Dallas / Traina-Norell" B) Belt of matching fabric, backed with black leather. Narrow, with rectangular buckle covered in same fabric. Stamped on reverse: "30+"

Description: Daytime coat dress. a) Coat dress of red/orange gaberdine wool. Single breasted with 7 mother-of-pearl buttons in circular gold-tone mounts with bound buttonholes. Above knee length. Jewel neckline. Neckline and right side of opening are of navy gaberdine wool. Long, set in sleeves having cuffs of navy gaberdine wool with two smaller matching buttons and bound buttonholes. Two large patch pockets at left and right are also trimmed with matching navy bands across tops of pockets. Lined in red silk crepe. Designer's label at center back neckline: "Norell" Retailer's label at inside left seam: "Rich's / Specialty Shop" b) Webbed belt of matching navy gaberdine wool. Three inches wide with rectangular self covered buckle. Reverse of buckle frame stamped "Astor".

Description: Cocktail dress of black faille and white linen with jacket and belt. A) Bolero style jacket in black silk faille. Center front opening with four small black circular buttons and bound buttonholes. Short, set-in sleeves trimmed with three matching buttons on tops of sleeves with bound buttonholes. Small welt pockets at sides. Jacket and sleeves lined in white silk satin. Combined designer/retailer label at center back neckline: "Neiman-Marcus Dallas / Traina-Norell" B) Dress of black silk faille. Set-in waistline with upper bodice of white linen. Linen bodice is sleeveless and has center front opening with five white circular plastic buttons and bound buttonholes. Banded collar extends to form bow tie ends. Mid-calf length skirt is full and formed by 10 panels. Left side zipper under arm hole. Black grosgrain ribbon petersham at natural waist with single hook & eye closure. Set-in waist section supported by metal boning. Lined in black silk in lower portion of skirt. Entire skirt section lined in heather brown woolen fabric to stiffen skirt. C) Narrow belt covered in black silk faille. Rectangular self covered buckle.

Description: Cocktail dress of heavy blue/green aqua silk. Knee-length, with high standing collar and long sleeves which gather into zippered cuffs. Collar, sleeves, and hem with wide bands of mirrored rhinestone beads/sequins. Attached sash/belt at waist. Center-back zipper, with hook-and-eye at collar. Lined in lighter material of the same color. Designer's label sewn inside skirt: "Norman Norell / New York" Designer's model label (?) sewn inside skirt: "18101-180-12" Union label sewn inside skirt.

Description: Cocktail dress of black silk faille and white lawn with black embroidered scallops. Wide boat neckline, short sleeves, natural waistline, princess seaming. Heavy black faille overskirt pleated into waist, cut higher at front to show underskirt of white lawn. Underskirt has horizontal bands of triple lines of scallops, scalloped lower edge of underskirt. Built in hoop understructure with petersham belt and four steel (?) internal hoops. Overlay with petticoat of white cotton with wide horsehair band at hem. Center back zipper.

Description: Cocktail dress of yellow and orange silk chiffon. Fitted bodice of horizontal, loosely pleated yellow chiffon has two orange, horizontal stripes at waist and above. Double, spaghetti style shoulder straps. Inner support with boning and petersham. Skirt is composed of under layers coral pink and yellow silk and outer layers of orange and yellow chiffon, creating a full appearance. Mid-length; zip-back and hook & eye closure. The body of the dress is decorated with vertical rows of clusters of tiny circular mirrored dots, glued to fabric. Wide band at hem of same clusters of mirrors, formed as a repeating band of large roses. Center back opening with hook and eye at neckline and 7 hidden snaps. B) Belt. Black satin belt with large rectangular rhinestone buckle. C) Inner slip of black organza over fine black silk faille. Center back zipper and flesh-colored spaghetti straps. Description: Cocktail dress of coral-red lace over cream silk. Coral net over cream silk, the net with coral lace overlay and appliqued with coral tape lace. Mid-length dress with high, slightly rounded neckline in front and deep V-neck in back. Cap sleeves. Skirt pleated at sides and back from waistline. Center back zipper closure with hooks and loops along length. Within and attached to dress by thin cords above waistline is inner slip/petticoat of two layers. Outside layer is cream colored organdy covering tulle netting. Inner layer is silk/satin with inner stiffening. Petticoat has cream colored grosgrain ribbon waist with 4 hook & eyes.
