Fabrication of wide-IF 200–300GHz superconductor–insulator–superconductor mixers with suspended metal beam leads formed on silicon-on-insulator

Description: This article reports on a fabrication process that uses silicon-oninsulator (SOI) substrates and micromachining techniques to form wide-IF superconductor–insulator–superconductor (SIS) mixer devices that have suspended metal beam leads for rf grounding. Aside from a description of the fabrication process, electrical measurements of these Nb/Al–AlNₓ /Nb trilayer devices will also be presented.

Unsupervised Large-Vocabulary Word Sense Disambiguation with Graph-based Algorithms for Sequence Data Labeling

Description: This paper introduces a graph-based algorithm for sequence data labeling, using random walks on graphs encoding label dependencies. The algorithm is illustrated and tested in the context of an unsupervised word sense disambiguation problem, and shown to significantly outperform the accuracy achieved through individual label assignment, as measured on standard sense-annotated data sets.

Revisiting (Some of) the Lasting Impacts of the Liberty Ships via a Metallurgical Analysis of Rivets from the SS "John W. Brown"

Description: This article examines a rivet from the SS "John W. Brown", which was assembled in Baltimore, Maryland, and launched in September 1942. Classical metallurgical analysis of a rivet from the original 1942 vessel is compared with modern rivets used during its restoration.

An experimental design to study decommitment in a collaborative multi-agent system in a scheduling domain

Description: This article describes the theoretical background and experimental design of new research based on previous multi-agent research on collaborative agents. The research extends the concept of agent decommitment into a resource scheduling domain. The problem is no longer time constrained, however, the number of agents is increased dramatically. The actual experimentation is yet to be performed. The authors state that results of the experimentation will be reported in a future article.
