Article describes how, due to the enormous amounts of data being generated between users, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) are complex Cyber-Physical Systems that necessitate a reliable and safe infrastructure. In this work, the authors explore Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) and collect data about consensus algorithms and their applicability to be used in the IoV as the backbone of ITS.
Article provides an equation relating the linear isobaric expansivity to the brittleness B for a number of polymers with a large variety of chemical structures and consequently with a large variety of properties.
Article describes how the presented research highlights a novel approach using fmoc-protected peptide hydrogels for the encapsulation and stretching of mesenchymal stem cells. This study utilized a custom mechanical stretching device with a PDMS chamber to stretch human mesenchymal stem cells encapsulated in Fmoc hydrogels.
Article models work hardening response in TRIP HEAs under tensile deformation, which reflects the hardening due to synergistic activity of multiple deformation mechanisms, using a five-parameter work hardening model.
This is the Author Manuscript version of an article presenting high-performance hybrid graphene photodetectors prepared with endohedral fullerenes deposited on graphene using electrophoretic methods for the first time.
This article developed a new cable-less seismograph system, which can transmit seismic data in real-time and automatically perform high-precision differential self-positioning. Combining the ZigBee technology with the high-precision differential positioning module, this new seismograph system utilized the wireless personal area network (WPAN) and real-time kinematic (RTK) technologies to improve its on-site performances and to make the field quality control (QC) and self-positioning possible. With the advantages of low-cost, good scalability, and good compatibility, the proposed new cable-less seismograph system can improve the field working efficiency and data processing capability. It has potential applications in noise seismology and mobile seismic monitoring.
Article presents research where metastability based alloy design led to flexible microstructural evolution in which either thermodynamically stable γ-phase or unstable ε-phase was obtained at room temperature.
This article describes the depositing of plasma nanocoating of allylamine on the surfaces of multi-walled carbon nanotubes to provide desirable functionalities and thus to tailor the surface characteristics of multi-walled carbon nanotubes for improved dispersion and interfacial adhesion in epoxy matrices.
This articles presents a novel algorithm for generating in-silico biomimetic models of a cortical bone microstructure towards manufacturing biomimetic bone via additive manufacturing. The software provides a tool for physicians or biomedical engineers to develop models of cortical bone that include the inherent complexity of the microstructure.
This article discusses the design of an alternative cement system that can better accommodate calcium-phosphate additives while preserving cement rheological properties and performance.
Article is a study proposing an approach for blood cancer disease prediction using the supervised machine learning approach to perform blood cancer prediction with high accuracy using microarray gene data.
This article describes the performance of a multifaceted investigation comprising of atomic force microscopy (AFM0, photoluminescence (PL) and Raman spectroscopy to analyze the structural and chemical characteristics to help shed insights on the origins of the superior optoelectronic device performance.
Article describes a study where laser surface engineering was successfully used to engineer a nano carbide composite coating on a low carbon steel substrate.
Article describes experiment in which liquid Al2O3 was supercooled more than 500 K below its melting point (Tm = 2,327 K) using aerodynamic levitation and laser heating techniques.
This article aims to explore new categorization that characterizes the distribution clusters of visceral and subcutaneous adipose tissues (VAT and SAT) measured by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), to analyze the relationship between the VAT-SAT distribution patterns and the novel body shape descriptors (BSDs), and to develop a classifier to predict the fat distribution clusters using the BSDs.
This article aims to generate all theorems of a given size in the implicational fragment of propositional intuitionistic linear logic. It was presented at the 36th International Conference on Logic Programming (ICLP).
This article assembles large, pediatric-sized stents (Ø10 - Ø20 mm) from poly(L-lactide) fibers (DH-BDS) at two thicknesses, 250 µm and 300 µm. DH-BDS exhibiting hoop strength similar to metal stents and demonstrating minimal degradation and strength loss over the first year before completely disappearing within 3 to 4.5 years show promise as a pediatric interventional alternative to current strategies.
In this article the density uniformity and mechanical properties of bamboo bundle veneers were systematically evaluated by the combination of light transmittance and mechanical stiffness. It was found that the number of broomings, dippings, and high-temperature heat treatments had different effects on the bamboo bundle veneers. On this basis, the uniformity of the density and mechanical properties of the bamboo scrimber (BS) that underwent hybrid paving, and the bamboo bundle laminated veneer lumber (BLVL), were analyzed.
Article describes how psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disease that affects approximately 125 million people worldwide. The goal of the authors' study is to derive a powerful predictive model for psoriasis disease based on only routine hospital tests.
This article provides a basic design principle of heteroatom-doped g-C3N4 as an efficient HER catalyst and a fundamental understanding of the HER mechanism.
