Dual-Wavelength Terahertz Metasurfaces with Independent Phase and Amplitude Control at Each Wavelength

Description: This article describes the design of a dual-wavelength achromatic metasurface-based deflector deflecting the incident wave to the same direction at two selected wavelengths, which has circumvented the critical limitation of strong wavelength dependence in the planar metasurface-based devices caused by the resonant nature of the plasmonic structures.

Revisiting (Some of) the Lasting Impacts of the Liberty Ships via a Metallurgical Analysis of Rivets from the SS "John W. Brown"

Description: This article examines a rivet from the SS "John W. Brown", which was assembled in Baltimore, Maryland, and launched in September 1942. Classical metallurgical analysis of a rivet from the original 1942 vessel is compared with modern rivets used during its restoration.

Solving the (n² - 1)-Puzzle with 8/3 n³ Expected Moves

Description: In this article, it is shown that the greedy algorithm for the (n² - 1)-puzzle makes 8/3 + O(n²) expected moves. This analysis is verified experimentally on 10,000 random instances each of the (n² - 1)-puzzle for 4 ≤ n ≤ 200.
