A Study of the Training Received and Duties Performed by the Maintenance Employees in a Selected Group of Acme Brick Company Plants

Description: The major purposes of this study were (1) to obtain information relating to the number and types of areas of work included in the routine duties performed by the maintenance employees employed in a selected group of Acme Brick Company production plants, (2) to determine the nature of any training that may have assisted in the development of their ability to perform the skills normally involved in each area of work, and (3) to recommend to Acme Brick Company areas of instruction to be included in a training program for its employees.

A Study to Determine the Adequacy of the Curriculum in the Technical-Industrial Department at Tyler Junior College

Description: The major purposes of this study were to gather information on the employment status and location of students who completed four or more courses in the technical-industrial program at Tyler Junior College, Tyler, Texas; to identify factors that influenced them in selecting Tyler Junior College and taking courses in the technical-industrial program; to ascertain in some measure the effectiveness of the training these students received in preparing them for the positions they have held and now hold; and to secure data and information which the faculty and administration at Tyler Junior College may use in evaluating the present program with respect to future changes and improvements.

Principles and Application of Numerically Controlled Machines

Description: The purpose of this study is threefold. First, numerical control will be analyzed objectively to ascertain its justification in terms of meeting the requirements of the basic manufacturing process phases. Secondly, the study will consist of an evaluation of the field of industrial arts in the Dallas-Fort Worth area to determine how numerical control has been accepted in the educational field and what preparation, if any, is being made to include the teaching of this new industrial concept. Thirdly, the study will investigate the feasibility and cost of installing numerically controlled equipment in the industrial arts laboratories of North Texas State University.

The Suitability of Available Industrial Arts Textbooks for the Subject Area of Metalworking

Description: From a previous study, criteria were developed for use in evaluating industrial arts textbooks for several subject areas in the field of industrial arts. This study is concerned with two of these areas, general metalworking and machine metalworking. It is evident that there are many books published in the United States in the field of industrial arts. The availability and suitability of these textbooks for industrial arts courses in general metalworking or machine metalworking provide the basis of this study.

Data were gathered and analyzed to compare industrial arts and non-industrial arts students' chronological ages, family background, I. Q, scores and percentile rankings from intelligence tests, final grade point averages, vocational interests as described by the Kuder Occupational Interest Survey, vocational and educational ambitions, hobby interests, and reasons for election or non-election of industrial arts.

The Design, Construction, and Use of a Tri-color Projection Box to be Used in the Instruction of Orthographic Projection

Description: The purposes of the study were as follows: first, to study the literature in the field of teaching drafting with special reference to the use of instructional aides in presenting orthographic projection concerning the use of a projection box; second, to ascertain the value of the use of a tri-color projection box in teaching orthographic projection to an experimental group of students at the R. L. Turner High School, Carrollton, Texas; and third, to determine if an analysis of these data indicates a justification for the use of this type of an instructional aid in teaching orthographic projection.
