A Study of the Use of the Playback in Consumer Education

Description: The purpose of this study is to consider the playback as a consumer educational material, and to test its usefulness in transmitting and securing acceptance of consumer information when presented to selected groups of individuals. Another purpose of the study is to make a contribution to the sum total of results obtained by the Institute for Consumer Education in its experimentation with the playback.

Analysis of the Housing Status of the Elderly

Description: Quality of housing was examined in relation to living arrangement, race, socioeconomic status, age, gender, income, health, and renter-owner status. There appeared to be differences in housing quality for those of younger ages, females, and owners. White subjects occupied good quality housing while Blacks occupied fair quality housing. The Effects of Oat Fiber and Corn Bran on Blood Serum Cholesterol and Triglyceride Levels

Description: Forty Sprague Dawley rats were randomly placed in five groups with eight rats per group. Each group varied in dietary composition for fiber type and carbohydrate source. The Effect of Relationship Films on the Attitudes of Homemaking Girls

Description: Films have been used with varying degrees of success to influence the attitudes of pupils of different ages and interests. Little has been done, however, to measure the attitudes of girls in high school homemaking classes. Description: The purposes of the present study are to determine the ascorbic acid values of foods served in the lunch room of North Texas State Teachers College Demonstration School at the time food preparation is completed, at the beginning of the serving period, and at the end of the serving period; to ascertain the loss of ascorbic acid during these intervals; and to determine the quantity of ascorbic acid present in the size portions served primary, elementary, and high school students.
