An Evaluation of the Los Fresnos Elementary School, Los Fresnos, Texas

Description: The purpose of this study is to present the appraisal of the Los Fresnos Elementary School in terms of the criteria in the Handbook for Self-Appraisal and Improvement of Elementary Schools as made by a committee of twelve teachers of that school. Attention is given to the seven major areas of the school and to certain subtopics under each heading.

A Continuously Sensitive Cloud Chamber

Description: A continuous cloud chamber would be a valuable asset to laboratory work in nuclear and atomic physics. For this reason the construction and investigation of a continuously sensitive diffusion cloud chamber has been undertaken. It is the purpose of this paper to report the design and operating characteristics of such a chamber.

Weaving with Materials Native to the Texas Gulf Coast

Description: The present study explores some of the materials native to the Texas Gulf Coast between Corpus Christi and Beaumont relative to their adaptability to weaving. The problem is three-fold: first, to collect and identify the indigenous materials which might prove suitable for weaving; second, to determine the range of uses which each might serve in a weaving program; and third, to test further each selected specimen by making a sample into a finished woven product.

A Study to Develop and Evaluate a Sound Health, Physical Education, and Recreation Program for Girls

Description: The purpose of this study was to make an analysis of the program of health, physical education, and recreation for girls in the Gainesville High School, Gainesville, Texas. The aim was to develop a program that will function in the lives of the pupils. In order to provide a basis for the improvement of the existing program, an effort was made to evaluate the program for the purpose of improving the health of the pupils and the quality of the services rendered by the school in the areas of health, physical education, and recreation. Finally, the program was evaluated in the light of certain criteria that were set up as guiding principles.

Personnel Policies for Salesmen in Nash Automobile Dealerships in Texas

Description: The automobile dealership is one of the more important types of small business. The operation of such a business is an integral part of the economy of the country, and conditions existing in the automobile field are usually fairly representative of those in other types of small business; therefore, the general personnel policies of an automobile dealership are basically similar to personnel policies of other small businesses in the distributive field. A study of personnel policies in this field will be of some use to anyone interested in the problems of small business.

A Comparison of Boys' and Girls' Achievement Scores and Teacher Ratings

Description: It is the primary purpose of this study to determine any differences in the achievement abilities and teacher ratings of the boys and girls of equal intelligence quotients in the fifth, sixth, and seventh grades of the Alvord Elementary School, Alvord, Texas. A secondary purpose is to make a study of the environmental background of a number of pupils in order to determine certain other factors that might be considered as producing some influence upon the success or failure of the boy or girl.

A Microbial Survey of Raw Ingredients Used in Finished Products at Kraft Foods Company, Garland, Texas

Description: The purpose of this investigation is to determine through routine checks the number of organisms present in the various raw ingredients used for the preparation of foods. The problem has consisted of, first, a determination of the total bacterial population by numbers; second, a determination of the incidence of colon bacteria in the samples examined; third, a determination of the presence of yeasts and molds; and fourth, an attempt to utilize this information obtained in judging the methods of handling the raw ingredients before they are used in the processing of foods.

Description: Many types of groups have been studied by sociometrists but to the time of the present study, church youth groups have not been measured to determine the extent of morale and the conditions or factors that influence the degree of morale. In an effort to provide this information to students of group relations and to religious leaders, this study has been conceived and conducted.
