Progress Made by Two Age Groups of First-Grade Children

Description: The three-fold purpose of this study is: 1. To contrast the physical, mental, and emotional development of children who were six to six and one-half years old with those who were older than six and one-half at the beginning of the school year. 2. To contrast the amount of progress made in subject-matter achievement and in emotional development. 3. To determine, by comparison of the two groups, which group had the advantage as far as subject-matter achievement, adjustment, and behavior were concerned.

Description: The problem set forth in this study is to determine the relationship of certain factors to the popularity of students in the eighth grade of the Junior High School at Ozona, Texas. The factors to be considered in this study are as follows: 1. The socio-economic status of the parents; 2. Each of the factors measured by the California Test of Personality; 3. The intelligence quotient; 4. Scholastic achievement; 5. The length of family residence in the community; 6. Physical attractiveness of the students as evaluated by three teachers; 7. Athletic ability as evaluated by the physical education teachers; 8. Conduct in the classroom as evaluated by the home room teacher.

A Study to Determine the Adequacy of the Business Departments of Class A High Schools of Region III of Texas

Description: The purpose of this study is to determine how adequately Class A schools of Region Three of Texas are conforming to certain standards in business education. A comparative survey of business administration programs has been made, and the programs were evaluated by standards formulated by the Texas State Department of Education and recognized investigators in this field. After careful consideration of all the data available for this study, the writer made conclusions and recommendations with regard to the business education programs in the schools of Region Three.

Description: Many types of groups have been studied by sociometrists but to the time of the present study, church youth groups have not been measured to determine the extent of morale and the conditions or factors that influence the degree of morale. In an effort to provide this information to students of group relations and to religious leaders, this study has been conceived and conducted.

An Experimental Investigation of the Relationship Between Perception of Parental Acceptance and Social Acceptability of Adolescents

Description: The purpose of this study is twofold. One is that of developing an instrument for determining a child's concept of how he is thought of by his mother and his father; in other words, a method of measuring parental acceptance as it is perceived by the child, himself. The development of this instrument will be discussed in Chapter IV. The second purpose of this study is that of determining whether or not there is any significant relationship between the child's perception of parental acceptance and the social acceptability of the child, as measured by a sociometric instrument.

Description: The purposes of this study are as follows: 1) to investigate the similarities and differences in the temperaments of a higher creative group and a lower creative group and 2) to investigate the effectiveness of the Guilford-Zimmerman Temperament Survey in identifying higher creative individuals and lower creative individuals, as measured by the AC Test of Creative Ability.
