P-type Doping of Pulsed Laser Deposited WS2 with Nb

Description: Layered transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) are potentially ideal semiconducting materials due to their in-plane carrier transport and tunable bandgaps, which are favorable properties for electrical and optoelectronic applications. However, the ability to make p-n junctions is the foundation of semiconductor devices, and therefore the ability to achieve reproducible p- and n-type doping in TMD semiconducting materials is critical. In this work, p-type substitutional doping of pulsed laser d… more

Panoramic Memory, Affect, and Sensations of Detachment in the Dying: Discussions Published in France, 1889-1903

Description: Abstract: Between 1889 and 1903, several authors published papers in the French journal "Revue Philosophique de la France et de l'Etranger" and in a few other publications in which they discussed panoramic memory, changes of affect, and a sense of detachment from the body in dying persons. With a few exceptions these publications have been ignored in modern discussion of the phenomena of the dying. Whereas philosopher Victor Egger postulated the psychological explanation that panoramic memory r… more

Paralysis As “Spiritual Liberation” in Joyce’s Dubliners

Description: In James Joyce criticism, and by implication Irish and modernist studies, the word paralysis has a very insular meaning. The word famously appears in the opening page of Dubliners, in “The Sisters,” which predated the collection’s 1914 publication by ten years, and in a letter to his publisher Grant Richards. The commonplace conception of the word is that it is a metaphor that emanates from the literal fact of the Reverend James Flynn’s physical condition the narrator recalls at the beginning o… more

Parameter Estimation of Microwave Filters

Description: The focus of this thesis is on developing theories and techniques to extract lossy microwave filter parameters from data. In the literature, the Cauchy methods have been used to extract filters’ characteristic polynomials from measured scattering parameters. These methods are described and some examples are constructed to test their performance. The results suggest that the Cauchy method does not work well when the Q factors representing the loss of filters are not even. Based on some prototype… more

Paranormal Aspects of Pre-Existence Memories in Young Children

Description: Abstract: The authors present both unconfirmed and externally confirmed cases of children's pre-existence memories with paranormal aspects that apparently cannot be explained by childish fantasy. The anomalous phenomena mostly comprise extrasensory perception with one case involving psychokinesis. Such aspects are similar to and convergent with paranormal aspects of near-death experiences and point to a common, non-physical origin of both types of experiences.
