Effects of a Leisure Education Program Upon Expressed Attitudes Towards Recreation and Delinquency for Institutionalized Adolescents

Description: The social problem of juvenile delinquency and treatment efforts to alleviate this problem are introduced in this study. Literature related to theories on delinquency, institutional treatment, the role of recreation in correctional settings, and leisure education is reviewed and summarized. Complex Polymers of ADP-Ribose Occur in Vitro and in Vivo

Description: The work presented here included the development of a highly sensitive method to estimate the size and complexity of poly(ADP-ribose). This involved radiolabeling of the precursor pools, purification of polymers using a boronate resin, polymer fractionation according to size by molecular sieve chromatography and analysis of polymer complexity by enzymatic digestion to nucleotides which were quantified by strong anion exchange chromatography.

Exoprotease Production by Aeromonas hydrophila in a Chemically Defined Medium

Description: Wretlind, Heden, and Wadstrom found ammonium sulfate to be inhibitory for the formation of extracellular protease in Aeromonas hydrophila grown in Brain Heart Infusion medium. The Role of Self-Efficacy in Predicting Adherence/Compliance to Health Behavior Regimens

Description: The purpose of the present study was to investigate the relationship between Self-Efficacy Theory (Bandura, 19 77) and adherence to health behavior prescription. A self report Self-Efficacy Questionnaire was developed to assess levels of efficacy. Dietary adherence was determined by self report as well as body composition assay and measurement of body weight. A Comparison of Straight-Stained, Q-stained, and Reverse Flourescent-Stained Cell Lines for Detection of Fragile Sites on the Human X Chromosome

Description: Cell cultures were examined for percentage of fragile sites seen in straight-stained, Q-stained and reverse fluorescent-stained preparations. In all cases, percentage of fragile site expression was decreased when compared to straight-stained preparations. However, fragile sites seen in Q- and RF-stain could be identified as on X chromosomes.

Some Responses of Bacillus subtilis Spores to Glutaraldehyde

Description: Bacillus subtilis (ATCC 19659) were damaged by exposure to various concentrations of glutaraldehyde, as shown by decreased germination rates. The damage caused was repaired or otherwise obviated by the presence of sodium lactate in the holding medium. When two different salts of lactic acid were compared for ability to overcome the effect of glutaraldehyde, it was found that calcium salt of lactate was more effective than the sodium salt. Emergence, Growth, Drift and Microdistribution of Stoneflies (Plecoptera) in an Ozark Foothills Stream, Delaware County

Description: Adult stonefly emergence, nymphal growth, drift and microdistribution were examined in Battle Branch, a secondorder, spring-fed stream, from November, 1982 to May, 1984. Adults of 22 species emerged successionally, with specific adults present every month.
