- The purpose of this study is four-fold: (1) to present through an analysis of life needs the nature and source of a curriculum best adapted to democracy; (2) to present fairly some of the reasons why a curriculum must be founded on democracy if democracy survives the dangerous forces that threaten to obliterate its very existence; (3) to make an unprejudiced analysis of the regular situation now existing in Oklahoma schools at the present time to find whether her schools are meeting this challenge to democracy; and (4) to offer from the comparison of the summaries of these data recommendations whereby all schools may have a curriculum "rooted in the life of its people"--a program that contributes to democracy and permanent national defense.

- The purpose of this survey was to analyze the course of study in instrumental music prescribed by the Texas State Department for the high schools of the state and to determine whether or not a coordinated and well-rounded program of education in instrumental music is being offered in the schools of Texas. It was hoped, furthermore, that, by comparing this program with others elsewhere, this analysis might show whether or not Texas is following any general trend in instrumental music education.

- In Peters and Pomeroy's fourth edition of Commercial Law, a number of cases are cited where there is a difference between the laws and rulings of the various states. There are only three cases in which the difference is given. The procedure was to find all of the cases in which there is any doubt as to the Texas law, and to quote the law or ruling as given by Peters and Pomeroy, and then to give the law or ruling of the State of Texas.
- A Comparative Study of the Students' Recreational Program in the North Texas State Teachers College, Denton, Texas, and the Teachers' Recreational Program in Amarillo, Texas
- This study is a comparative analysis of the recreational activities and facilities of 150 students attending the North Texas State Teachers College, Denton, Texas, during the summer of 1940 and of 150 teachers in service in the public schools of Amarillo, Texas during 1940-41. The three-fold purpose of this investigation was to compare the recreational activities in which teachers in service and students in college participated, to secure from each subject a ranking of activities as to his choice for participation, and to determine the adequacy of recreational facilities for both groups.

In order to make the study, two Texas counties, Denton and Young, which have bookmobiles in use in the schools, were surveyed and a comparison made with a survey of Jack County which has no bookmobile.

- An Experimental Investigation of the Value of Music Workbooks in Junior High Music Classes
- This study is an experimental investigation of two groups of junior high school students in an effort to evaluate the advantages of workbooks in their music classes. The comparison was made with two classes composed of thirty-two students each from the two junior high schools in the Beaumont Independent School District. One class used the workbooks in conjunction with the regular singing and appreciation work, but the other class did not use formal workbooks. They discussed the theory and notation of the music in relation to the work they were doing.

- This study is based upon information taken from stomach analysis of 302 black crappie and 561 white crappie; the following data will be presented: 1. Food of adults and fingerlings; 2. - A Home Beautification Project Developed by the Art Club of the Travis Elementary School in Mineral Wells, Texas
- For three years the writer has worked with children from a section in Mineral Wells, Texas, in which home environments were unnecessarily bad. They offered none of the wholesome stimuli for growth and development that homes should give. The houses were drab and cheerless, and the grounds were neglected, often grown up in weeds or cluttered with trash. Through its members, made up of sixth and seventh grade children of Travis Elementary School and including children from the affected homes, plans and procedures were formulated for improving homes, and the interest and cooperation of the parents were secured in extending the improvements over the area. By this plan the writer hoped that life might be made more satisfying for these people as a result of improved surroundings.

- The general food supply is usually the source of vitamin C for many people, and since squash is a common food in the popular diets of Texans and is so generally grown over the state, this study has a two-fold purpose: (1) to ascertain the amount of vitamin C in the two varieties of squash most commonly used as food in Texas, and (2) to determine the effect of various methods of cooking upon the vitamin C content of these two varieties of squash.
