Description: The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of the use of filmstrips as an aid in teaching reading to a group of first grade children in the Tom Bean Consolidated School. A further purpose, and probably the most important as it deals with the ultimate objective of education, is the effect that visual aid has upon the behavior of boys and girls.

A Study to Determine the Differences in Scholastic Achievement and Sociometric Standing Between Children from Broken and Unbroken Homes

Description: The problem presented in this study is to determine if any differences exist in the sociometric standing and the scholastic achievement between children from broken homes and children from unbroken homes. The purpose of the study is to make a comparison of the sociometric standing and scholastic achievement of two selected groups of pupils to determine if differences exist and to what extent they exist.

A Study to Determine the Effectiveness of Certain Methods for Developing Reading Readiness

Description: The purpose of this study was to determine whether certain methods employed for the development of reading readiness among first-grade pupils in the Washington Elementary School of Sherman, Texas were effective. Careful evaluation was made by means of standardized tests for the purpose of ascertaining the results accomplished in the course of a school year by the methods used for the development of reading readiness.
