Optimizing the User Experience in a Rapid Development Framework: Usability Tests: Summary Report, February 2010

Description: This is a summary report of the findings of usability tests. The UNT Libraries received a National Leadership Grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services in December 2007 for a two-year project to identify the user interface requirements of genealogists interacting with the Libraries' Portal to Texas History and to redesign the interface to the Portal to meet those requirements.

The Origins of SIG-III and Its 30 Years' Journey: Visions and Reflections

Description: This presentation discusses the origins of SIG-III and its 30 years' journey. In light of the 75th American Society for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T) Anniversary Celebration and the 30th celebration of International Information Issues (III), the participants on this panel will discuss the origins of the Special Interest Group for International Information Issues (SIG-III) of ASIS&T and its early years. In addition to the reflections of the last 30 years, the authors look forward and discuss the future of the SIG.

Description: The painting, mostly monochromatic, depicts a portrait of Orson Welles in the top two-thirds of the canvas. Along the bottom edge, also in monochromatic tones, are men depicted in combat with automatic weapons. At the right edge, the face of a superhero is depicted in pink, blue, red and yellow. Running vertically in the left hand portion of the canvas is a depiction of lined notebook paper with a small pencil sketch of a landing craft or space ship.

The Other Mary: The Absence of Mary Magdalene in the Santa Maria Trastevere

Description: This paper discusses research on the absence of Mary Magdalene in the Santa Maria Basilica in Trastevere, Rome. The author's research examines the social context throughout Rome during the medieval era, the status of prostitution, spatial analysis of Trastevere, and the inevitable entrance of promiscuity through the Santa Maria Basilica in Trastevere.
